About me
I am a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults and young people (from 11 upwards). My private practice is based in Shurdington, Gloucestershire; I currently also work within two charities based in Gloucester. I am trained to work by telephone and via video link, so can also provide sessions remotely.
I take an anti-discriminatory, systemic, psychosocial and affirmative approach to my practice. This means that I will accept you for who you are without judgement and that I recognise the many different ways in which your environment may be contributing to the way you are feeling. I will aim to support you to explore the challenges and difficulties you have faced and to understand how they have affected you. We can then work together to identify appropriate ways of meeting your therapeutic needs.
I have lived experience and understanding around neurodiversity, disability and LGBTQIA+ identities.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc in Psychology and Counselling, an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, certificates in Eco-Psychotherapy, and a diploma in Diversity, Cultural Competence, Race & Anti-Discrimination Practice. I am committed to regular, ongoing training to ensure my own continued professional development.
I am accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I am also a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I work within the BPC Code of Ethics and the Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions outlined by the BACP.
My work is confidentially supervised in line with professional practice requirements.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation before committing to counselling. I will also send my Counselling Agreement terms by email (a printed copy can be provided if needed).
Sessions last for 50 minutes and will usually be held weekly, at the same time and in the same place. Counselling can be for a fixed period or on an open-ended basis, depending on need and preference.
Sessions cost £50 each or £250 for a block of 6.
I can sometimes offer a reduced rate depending on circumstances, and encourage those who are more financially secure to pay a higher rate to support this.
I have other rates for life story work, organisational consultancy, and advocacy services. Please contact me to discuss these services.
