About me

Jennifer McQuaid MBACP - Integrative Therapy Services: is a growing online Therapy Service.

I am an integrative Counsellor, meaning I draw from different modalities of therapy when working with my clients. This allows me to provide support across a wide range of issues. I have ample experience of working with clients who present with issues ranging from, but not limited to, Anxiety, Depression, Loss, Grief, Low self-esteem, Relationship issues and Addiction.

Neurodivergence:

As a neurodivergent person, with a diagnosis of ASD, I have a special interest and passion for supporting Neurodiverse adults. I also love to support the parents and carers of neurodiverse children, as I too, am a parent to ASD and ADHD children.

I feel that my both my personal experience as a neurodivergent person, coupled with my experience as a parent to neurodivergent children, allows me to offer deep understanding and support to both in this area.

Substance issues:

I am experienced in and passionate about offering support to those trying to overcome addiction or maintain their sobriety. This is an area I have personal experience in. I feel that this experience, understanding and knowledge provides a steady foundation for us to work through the issues that have led your dependence in the first place. I can also offer tools and techniques to help maintain your sobriety.

Please note, you cannot attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Menopause, PMDD, Perimenopause related issues:

Additionally, I am passionate about and experienced in offering support to women who are experiencing mental health issues due to female reproductive issues such as PMDD and Perimenopause.

Complementary meet & greet.
I offer a free 20 minute initial meet and greet. In this session we will have a little chat about what’s been going on for you, which can us determine if I can support you with your current issues. It’s also an opportunity for you to assess if you feel working with me would be beneficial to you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

A lot of people truly want to work on themselves & know who they are, so they can experience true self acceptance & inner peace. However, we live in a world that has taught us that to look after ourselves is ‘selfish’.

As a result, we don’t naturally invest our hard earned money in ourselves in a meaningful way & instead spend it on ‘quick fixes’ or ‘instant gratification’ products such as - alcohol, clothes, food, holidays etc.

Counselling is an emotional, spiritual & mental health investment, that will truly bring about long term positive benefits with time, trust & commitment to the process.
