About me

*Please check your junk/spam box when awaiting a response - thank you*

I recognise the challenges of navigating through life while experiencing anxiety, depression, feeling 'stuck', 'hopeless' or overwhelmed by guilt, relationship issues, financial pressures, health concerns, loneliness, work related stress, self-harm, addiction etc.

As an experienced Person Centred Experiential (PCE) Psychotherapist and Counsellor, I provide confidentiality, no judgement and an abundance of empathic warmth. This assists in someone sharing and exploring their feelings and experiences.

I offer an inclusive space and work with clients from all backgrounds and ages including LGBTQIA+. I also have a depth of experience working with neurodivergent clients, including Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD etc.

I was once someone who struggled to trust and therefore lived through the painful path which can come from not allowing yourself to be vulnerable and confide in others. Eventually around 20+ years ago I went to therapy and I thrived through the process of opening up and developing a deeper understanding of myself and my own needs. It was then I fostered the goal of being that trusted person for others.

In 2007 I went on to achieve my first counselling qualifications and I have worked in a supportive role since. I later embarked on a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy because I wanted to learn more in order to help others more. I qualified with First Class Honours and the experience profoundly deepened my own self awareness as well as my passion for PCE therapy. Being person-centred is not only my chosen method of counselling, it has developed into my way of being and has become part of who I am.

I regularly attend training to ensure I am consistently developing knowledge/understanding. I also create opportunities for personal development, e.g., I facilitate encounter groups, attend personal development courses etc.

Client Testimonials:

“I've been attending sessions with Jayne for over 3 years now. Which started as a refferal from my GP to now choosing her privately. She makes me feel safe, heard, and ultimately feels like home. A feeling which living in trauma for 4 years and suffering from complex PTSD is a feeling I want. Jayne is warm, caring and empathetic. The space which she provides is welcoming, non judgmental and a space in which you can heal. I don't know what I'd have done without her in great times of need. I plan to continue my sessions with her and with her support and guidance to help me to heal”.

“My daughter was struggling with her mental health during her teenage years. After trying to get some help for her from many professionals, we were lucky to find Jayne. Jayne is warm, compassionate and honest. She helped my daughter unpick her anxieties. Thanks to Jayne's input, my daughter is in a much healthier space, has more confidence and strength. We will always be thankful for the impact that Jayne's work had on our family”.

”I was never sure counselling was for me, or that it would work, I had tried counselling briefly before but just didn’t gel well with the person and didn’t feel it would be particularly beneficial to me. But then I was introduced to Jayne. The support, empathy, understanding and genuine care I have felt during my journey has been life changing. 2 years ago I felt like a broken woman, I couldn’t see a way out of how I was feeling but Jayne has managed to drag me out of that hole I felt I was trapped in and help me see things so differently. Being so honest, open and vulnerable with someone who was once a total stranger was unsettling to me at first but I very quickly found so much comfort in going to my sessions and now I feel so much more positive about my future all thanks to her. I can’t even express my gratitude enough”

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I recognise the importance of you feeling connected with your therapist and therefore I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation, either in person, online or over the phone.

My sessions are 1 hour long.

Some clients like to book a set of sessions or we can work week by week, whatever is your preference. We can review the sessions as our time unfolds to ensure you are gaining what you feel you need from the therapy.

I offer concessionary fees - feel free to get in touch to discuss further.

Further information

I have my own therapy office space which is comfortable and secure, has onsite parking and is wheelchair accessible. It is based on the edges of Skelmersdale which is also convenient for nearby areas such as Ormskirk, Wigan etc. with easy access to the motorway.

I work Monday to Friday normal working hours, evenings and weekends when required.

I recognise that for some, counselling can feel challenging to fit in with the busyness of life and I aim to be as flexible as possible for my clients. Feel free to get in touch and we can arrange a day/time that works best for you.

I currently work part-time with NHS counselling referrals with a counselling service/agency.

I can facilitate home visits and this would have to meet safeguarding requirements.

I work within the BACP ethical guidelines, including having regular supervision which supports me in supporting others.
