About me

I hold the view human beings long for meaningful connection and a sense of belonging and because of this I prioritise our relationship, which I consider to be at the very heart of every therapeutic interaction. So we can begin to get to know each other, I offer a free initial 20 minute consultation.

What to expect

Within our sessions, my intention is to welcome all of you and meet you exactly where you are in your life’s journey. By focusing on being fully present, warm and genuine, I aim to create a felt sense of safety, openness and care, so you will feel at ease sharing what you are experiencing, wrestling with and trying to make sense of.

I will listen deeply with empathic understanding and compassionate curiosity, attuning to your feelings and words and gently inviting you to get in touch with your own inner emotional landscape, body sensations and thoughts. I will tenderly hold space so together we can explore all parts of your life, and meet all parts of yourself, increasing your awareness and sense of who you are in relation to the world. I believe this collaborative and unfolding process is a sacred journey of coming home to your self, holding the potential for true acceptance and paradoxical change to occur.

Throughout the sessions I will implicitly trust in your own unique process and inherent wisdom within your own body to guide you, working with the richness of what arises in the here and now and ensuring each session meets your individual needs by drawing from a number of different approaches, such as humanistic, existential, psychodynamic, somatic and parts work.

Background information

I have been working for over 30 years in both the public and private sectors, focusing on supporting people to make empowering changes in their lives, and I have trained as a spiritual counsellor, homoeopath and yoga teacher. All these experiences continue to inform who I am both as a person and counsellor. I am currently volunteering as a counsellor at St Elizabeth’s Hospice.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Hakomi-informed Certificate Training: Somatic Healing for Complete Mind-Body Trauma Transformation (ongoing)
  • IFS Trauma Treatment Program with Frank Anderson (ongoing)

I will be bringing my love of experiential therapies into the therapeutic space to deepen the work we are doing together, if this feels appropriate and resonates with your self, always going at your own pace of safety.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
