I know it can be difficult to take this first step to find a counsellor and begin to talk about what is happening in your life. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, loss, family problems or another issue. Whatever you are experiencing I offer a supportive, welcoming environment where you will be listened to and not judged. I will help you talk through your thoughts and feelings so you can start to make sense of what you are going through and therefore understand yourself more.
I provide a confidential and accepting space where we can work together to enable you to look at the difficult thoughts and emotions you are experiencing. It is a safe place where you can begin to process and acknowledge how life has felt or feels for you. By talking through your thoughts and feelings it will help you gain more insight of yourself and why you think, respond and behave as you do.
This is your personal journey therefore it is important for you to go at your own pace as you work through and begin to make more sense of what is happening in your life. With this new understanding you will be able to bring about positive change in your life and decide how you want to move forward.
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within their framework, therefore providing you with a professional, safe and ethical service.
Due to the new government guidelines I am now offering only telephone and online counselling so it is still possible for you to access counselling at this uncertain time. Please call or email to arrange an appointment.
I offer a one hour no obligation initial session at a reduced cost of £20. This is an opportunity for us to meet and for you to share how you are feeling and then you can decide if you want to move forward with counselling.
I work on Pride Park in Derby, where free parking is available. If you'd like to find out more or make an appointment please contact me either on 07397 955661 or email@example.com
If you would prefer me to contact you please send me a text or email with the best time to call. Your inquiry will be dealt with quickly and confidentially. If I am not available please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing from you.

Registered member of the BACP and therefore work within their ethical guidelines
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

"Janet provided such an encouraging non-judgemental, welcoming and open space for me to explore my life and my mind. I always left her counselling sessions feeling as though a weight had been lifted off my shoulders after we had identified and discussed issues that I have."
Janet has been an excellent support throughout my counselling sessions. I will miss these greatly. Thank you for making a big difference.
“Janet is a welcoming, friendly person who asks the questions that really begin to unpack those hidden issues that affect you. I found her counselling sessions an excellent escape and gave me the time for some much needed self-reflection and analysis. She got me through some tough times and saw me grow within myself. Thanks for everything but mostly for understanding.” January 2020
