Jane Winson MBACP
Most people experience serious problems at sometime in their life, this can leave us unsure of what to do for the best. I offer couple counselling, family counselling and individual counselling in an approachable transparent way.
There are lots of reasons why people decide to come to counselling. You may have talked with friends, family and work colleagues and feel no better. On the other hand you may have talked to no-one about what is happening in your internal world this could be for lots of different reasons such as admitting difficulties makes them real. Therapy, whilst conversational is different to relationships with friends and family and provides a unique opportunity for you to talk through your concerns in a space where my focus is on you.
I have extensive training and experience working with Depression, Anxiety, Work related Stress, Family Issues, Trauma, Loss, Relationship Problems, Divorce, Separation, Step-Parenting, Co-parenting, Affairs, Relationship Secrets/ Betrayal, Loneliness, Long term health problems, Caring for a child or parent. I often attend training and enjoy learning new things to enhance and update my professional counselling knowledge and practice.
When you come to counselling the relationship between the counsellor and the client is really important to allow the process to work. With this in mind I offer a free initial session where we can have time to explore together about whether working with me is right approach for you.
I offer short term (usually 6 weeks) and long term individual counselling, the length of time can vary depending on what you would like from coming to counselling. I can work with individuals face to face, telephone or on-line. I offer daytime or evening appointments.
As a couple you may be finding things difficult, perhaps one of you is facing a significant change in your circumstances and as a couple you are finding this difficult to manage. The change could be perceived as good or bad, life changing or something small that shouldn't be a problem however all change requires a readjustment of how you are together.
Often couples coming to therapy are stuck having tried everything themselves to make things better and may be thinking about whether to stay together or separate. Therapy can offer a space unique from any other environment to explore what is happening and find different ways of communicating. Couples counselling is usually held every 2 to 3 weeks over 6 to 12 sessions depending on what you would like from coming.
