MBACP, MA, Trauma-informed Integrative Therapist

About me

I'm a qualified trauma-informed psychotherapist offering sessions online and in-person in Balham/Clapham SW12/SW4 and Clapham Junction SW11.

I offer a warm and supportive space to explore complex feelings at your own pace. My approach is down-to-earth and looks to demystify the therapy process keeping you in control.

I provide support for a wide range of life issues including anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement, relationship and family issues, loneliness and low self-esteem. I also support those who have experienced trauma or narcissistic abuse and those with ADHD.

You may have difficult thoughts or emotions from past or present relationships. Your inner critic might be chipping away at your confidence, making you feel as if you’re never good enough. Do you often compare yourself to others? Maybe you feel stuck—unsure of what you want or how to move forward.

Past trauma can often show up in ways you don’t expect—such as heightened alertness (hyper-vigilance), strong reactions that feel disproportionate to the situation or 'emotional flashbacks' that bring up painful memories and impact your daily life.

How I work

As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to suit you, drawing from different therapeutic techniques based on your needs. Alongside traditional talking therapy, I draw on a range of techniques that can be tailored to your needs—from gentle support to more structured guidance, depending on what feels right for you. This may include:

  •  Exploring and 'processing' emotions to better understand your thoughts and behaviours
  •  Examining how past experiences may be shaping your present
  •  Using 'psycho-education' to boost insight- eg looking at the impacts of trauma on the brain or exploring the biological mechanisms of anxiety or depression where helpful
  • Developing practical strategies to help you move forward and make meaningful changes. This is the 'what now' part after insight into the origins of distress is gained.

➡️ Getting started...

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. I offer a free 15-minute video or phone chat so we can get to know each other, see if I'm the right 'fit', and answer any questions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 2 and 3 in Counselling and a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling.

I undertake continual professional development. These include trauma and the body, anxiety, CBT, personality disorders, complex post traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD), shame, narcissistic abuse, working with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and nutrition and mental health.
I am certified as Proficient in Online Counselling.

My professional background before making the change to therapist was in charity management and in politics. I hold a BA (Hons) in History and Politics and an MA in Political Philosophy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
