About me

If you are reading this you may have been scrolling through many profiles wondering how to choose and confused about all the options.

I can help if you are feeling persistently anxious or suffering from low mood. Maybe everything feels overwhelming or you are feeling stuck and unable to get what you want or even know what you want.

Perhaps you are finding it hard to deal with difficult thoughts or emotions from relationships and events now or in the past. Your 'inner-critic' may be daily undermining your confidence. Are you constantly comparing yourself to others? Experiencing feelings of shame? Or never feeling good enough?

You may be suffering from previous 'trauma' which can show itself in behaviours such as 'hyper-vigilance', reactions to events that feel 'disproportionate' or 'emotional flashbacks' from the past that can sabotage your wellbeing enjoyment of daily life.

I offer a warm, supportive space ,free from judgement to explore your issues at your own pace. Expect a down-to-earth, gentle approach with some humour occasionally.

As an 'integrative' therapist, I use different counselling 'tools' according to your needs. This may include identifying and exploring your emotions, looking at how your past may impacting your present or focusing on strategies to help you move forward.

How can therapy help me?

 - A deeper understanding of yourself and why you feel and act the way you do

 - Improved self-awareness, self-acceptance and ability to trust yourself and your instincts

 - More understanding of others and how to better connect and develop intimacy

How do I get started?

Entering into therapy can feel daunting. I offer a free 15-20 minutes video (or phone) call so we can talk about your needs and decide if I am the right therapist to help you.

If you opt to go ahead we will have an initial assessment where we will set some goals for you and agree a number of sessions. These will be reviewed as we go along so we can check if you feel you are making progress and decide any changes that need to be made. I aim to help you feel consulted and involved throughout.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 2 and 3 in Counselling and a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling.

I have a background in senior charity management and hold a BA (Hons) in History and Politics and an MA in Political Philosophy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
