About me
Hello & Welcome - I'm Jan.
I am an integrative Counsellor based in Poets Corner, in the heart of Hove.
You might wonder why choose therapy rather than talking to friends or family. Fair question. The difference is that this space is entirely yours. An hour focused on you, where you can speak freely and be properly heard. For many people, something shifts simply in having that kind of attention.
Working with couples
Issues you may be facing: - Trying to re-connect; Understanding repeated patterns; Deciding what comes next; Infidelity (broken trust); Intimacy struggles, and more.
How counselling can help:- Explore what's going on and when things began to take a turn; Hear each other without interruption; Be guided away from fixing; Approach with honesty.
Working with Individuals
You may be facing a range of emotional feelings including Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Low mood, Low self-esteem, Anger, Trauma, OCD or Family issues, and more.
How counselling can help:- Look at patterns of the past and how they're playing out now; Discuss what feels most pressing right now; How and when these feelings started; How you are being affected by what's happening to you.
Estrangement:-
A particular focus of my work is family estrangement - the grief, anger, loyalty conflicts, and identity shifts that can come with it. It's a complex and deeply personal experience, often involving a sense of loss that isn't always recognised by others, and it deserves careful space.
I work in a way that is shaped around you without saying what you should be doing or trying to give you answers. My role is to think alongside you, help you untangle what feels knotted, and support you in finding a way forward that feels right.
You may come for short-term support or you may choose long-term work. The choice is yours; there are no rules or regulations. As long as we feel comfortable with each other, we're ready to go.
You have come this far which is the hardest part and definitely a huge step. Sometimes it's hard to know where to begin. Saying out loud the thoughts that feel strange, uncomfortable, or even frightening can be unexpectedly relieving. You don't have to tidy them up first. Are you ready to click that button, write an email, or pick up the phone and get started, if so, I am here and waiting to reassure you every step of the way.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
