About me

What you can expect

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck or find yourself repeating patterns in your relationships that no longer serve you. Anxiety, loss, low self-esteem or difficult life experiences may have left you feeling disconnected from yourself or the people around you. Therapy offers a space to understand what's happening and find a different way forward.

I know beginning therapy can feel daunting. In our first sessions there is no expectation that you'll know where to start. We'll move at a pace that feels right for you, creating a relationship where you feel safe enough to explore whatever is most important.

Over time, many clients describe feeling more connected to themselves, more confident in their relationships and better able to navigate life's challenges.

How I work

If you're reading this, the chances are there's something in your life you'd like to understand, make sense of or change. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences with warmth, empathy and curiosity.

The opportunity to tell your story and feel genuinely heard is often empowering in itself. Alongside this, I'll offer different perspectives and therapeutic ideas that may help you understand yourself more deeply, make different choices and create meaningful, lasting change.

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I work in a relational way, drawing on a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. We'll explore what's brought you to where you are today and together we'll make sense of your thoughts and feelings to deepen your understanding of yourself. Through reflection and gentle, kind challenge, I'll offer different perspectives and insights. I'll also share therapeutic approaches and practical tools where they're helpful, with the expectation that you'll take what's useful for you and leave anything that isn't.

My background

I care deeply about this work and the opportunity to help people. Before training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I spent over 30 years supporting people as a manager, coach, trainer and mentor. I now combine this experience with my therapeutic practice to offer unique and effective support to individuals, couples and partnerships.

I work with people aged 16+, as individuals and couples, including those in romantic, sibling, familial and business relationships. I welcome people of all genders, including non-binary and LGBTQ+ clients, and those in polyamorous relationships.

My previous career helps me understand the pressures of work, leadership, change and relationships, while my therapeutic training allows us to explore the deeper emotional patterns beneath them. I continue to be inspired by the privilege of seeing people discover new ways of understanding themselves and their relationships.

My approach

As a therapist, I am curious about people, what has shaped them and how they arrived where they are today. I believe we all make sense of ourselves, other people and the world in ways that once helped us survive or belong. Together we'll gently explore those patterns, understand where they came from and consider whether they still serve you today.

Clients often share with me that they find my approach warm, sensitive, compassionate, collaborative and wholehearted. They tell me they feel understood, accepted and listened to, and that I help them make different choices. My aim isn't to change who you are, but to help you understand yourself more deeply, relate to yourself with greater compassion and make choices that feel more authentic and fulfilling, so you can live more confidently and in ways that feel true to you.

Transactional Analysis

I trained in Transactional Analysis, a talking therapy that helps us understand why we develop certain patterns of thinking, feeling and relating to others. Many clients find its ideas practical and easy to understand, making it easier to recognise old patterns and begin creating new ones.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
