Dr Jamie Brazil, Clinical Psychologist (DClinPsy, CPsychol)
Hello, I am Jamie and I am a qualified clinical psychologist (HCPC registered). I currently work full time for the NHS as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist, and in the evenings I run a small private psychological therapy practice in Bexleyheath, Kent. I have specialised in delivering evidence based therapy to adults experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, relationship problems and to those with a history of trauma.
Psychological therapy can help with a wide and diverse range of emotional and psychological difficulties. It is a process that involves working closely together to help you move from where you are now, to where you would like to be. A central aim of both counselling or psychological therapy is to enable people to better manage and cope, to feel less distressed, and ultimately to have an improved quality of life. Ultimately, I work with the person and their specific needs to support them in achieving their aims and goals. Psychological therapy is a safe and confidential space which can bring many forms of immediate benefits from reducing anxiety and relieving depression to regaining hope and reassurance, and can lead to positive coping perspectives.
I understand that seeking psychological support can be challenging at times. My approach is open, warm, non-judgemental and empathic. I work collaboratively with the client and I treat all information received with strict confidentiality. I aim to help, enable and empower each client to develop their own skills in dealing with their difficulties.
Adopting an integrative approach to therapy, I draw on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Psychodynamic approaches to tailor each intervention to the needs of the individual. I take a flexible and creative stance to practice and will work at a pace that feels right for the individual.
What should I expect when I contact you?
When you contact me I will aim to get back to you as soon as possible for a brief discussion over the phone about what you would like to work on in therapy. We will then arrange a time to meet for an initial assessment.
During our first meeting we will consider if I am able to offer the support you need and whether you think we can work well together. There is no obligation to arrange any further sessions at this point. If we do decide to meet again we will then use the next sessions to plan what you want to focus on and we will start our therapeutic work.
