Stuck in repeating patterns? Relationships | Anger Therapy

About me

Do you keep ending up in the same arguments or patterns — saying things or acting in ways you don’t mean, then feeling stuck in the aftermath?

Maybe things escalate quickly, or you’re starting to feel distant, frustrated, or alone.

It can feel confusing — especially when part of you knows this isn’t how you want things to be, but something keeps pulling you back into the same situations.

I help people step out of repeating cycles of conflict — where the same arguments, reactions, or disconnection keep showing up — and begin to feel heard and understood again.

I’m not a therapist who sits back silently or gives quick fixes. I’ll work with you in a calm, down-to-earth way — helping you slow things down, notice patterns, and understand what’s really happening underneath your reactions.

You might recognise some of this:

  • The same conversations going round in circles, with no resolution
  • Walking on eggshells to avoid conflict
  • Small things turning into big arguments
  • Feeling unheard, misunderstood, or alone
  • Starting to lose your sense of who you are
  • Anger or anxiety spilling into other areas of life

Over time, this can build into frustration, resentment, and a sense that something needs to change – but you’re not sure how.

I often work with people experiencing:

  • Relationship conflict and breakdown
  • Anger that feels hard to control or understand
  • Anxiety impacting day–to–day life
  • Feeling lost, stuck, or disconnected from yourself

In our sessions, we won’t rush to fix things or jump to solutions.

I work in a calm, down-to-earth way — offering space to explore, while also helping you notice patterns you might not have seen before.

Together, we’ll make sense of what’s been building — and find a way forward that feels clearer, more manageable, and more like you.

My approach is integrative and person-centred, shaped around you and your story — not a one-size-fits-all model.

I support individual adults from all walks of life, offering both in-person and online sessions.

I hold a Distinction in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy and am an Accredited Member of the NCPS and a member of the BACP. I work ethically, attend regular supervision, and am fully insured.

📍 In–person sessions are available in Bradford, Bingley and Halifax (typically within 15–20 minutes drive of where you are). Online sessions are also available if this feels more comfortable or suitable for you.

🗓 Next steps:

If you’re recognising yourself in this, you’re welcome to get in touch.

We can arrange a free initial call or a reduced-fee first session — a chance to see how it feels to talk and whether we’re a good fit.

There’s no pressure — just a first step.

I look forward to speaking with you.

With much warmth,

James

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
