About me
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a passion for helping people understand themselves more deeply and navigate life's challenges with greater self-awareness and compassion. I aim to create a warm, authentic, and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and personal experiences.
My work is grounded in a person-centred approach, while drawing on psychodynamic and existential perspectives. I have a particular interest in inner child work and how our early experiences shape the ways we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. I am fascinated by the ways we learn to adapt and survive during childhood, often developing beliefs, behaviours, and coping strategies that serve an important purpose at the time.
As adults, however, some of these once-helpful adaptations can become limiting patterns that leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or repeating the same cycles in relationships and other areas of life. I believe that many of the difficulties we experience are not signs that something is wrong with us, but understandable responses to our experiences and environments.
A key focus of my work is helping clients develop insight into these patterns and understand the connection between past experiences and present struggles. Through curiosity, reflection, and self-compassion, we can explore how adaptive survival strategies may have evolved into behaviours that no longer serve us. Rather than approaching these patterns with judgement, I encourage a compassionate understanding of why they developed and what they may still be trying to protect.
I am also interested in the broader influences that shape our identities and experiences, including family dynamics, culture, social expectations, and the systems we live within. I believe therapy can offer an opportunity not only to overcome difficulties but also to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our values, and the ways we wish to live.
My aim is to support clients in building greater self-awareness, strengthening their relationship with themselves, and creating meaningful change that feels authentic and sustainable.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my Foundation Degree (FdA) in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University before progressing to complete my BA (Hons) degree. I am currently a PhD candidate in Existential Psychotherapy, with a particular interest in meaning, identity, relationships, and the human experience.
Alongside my academic training, I have undertaken additional professional development in areas including inner child work and attachment theory. These approaches have deepened my understanding of how early relationships and life experiences can shape our beliefs, coping strategies, and patterns of relating in adulthood.
My training and ongoing research reflect a strong interest in how people adapt and survive through challenging circumstances, and how greater self-awareness and compassion can help us understand and transform patterns that may no longer serve us.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
