About me

Deciding to start therapy is a courageous step, and I deeply honour that decision.  As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, I work collaboratively with clients to help them gain awareness of their patterns and make intentional, meaningful changes in their lives. I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, understand the root causes of their challenges, and embrace their authentic selves. By integrating various therapeutic approaches, I support clients in developing self-awareness, emotional resilience, and healthier coping strategies. My goal is to empower clients to align their lives with their values, fostering personal growth and helping them navigate difficult emotions and relationships with clarity and confidence.

In our work together, we will move at your pace, respecting your unique journey. Sometimes, therapy focuses on a specific issue or challenge; other times, it’s about exploring what doesn't feel quite right. There are also moments when our path to therapy is shaped by deeper, past experiences, and memories from childhood that need to be processed. I respect the individuality of each person and the distinctiveness of their journey, which is why the therapeutic approach will be personalised to suit your needs. I believe that you know yourself best, and my role is to support you in a reflective, compassionate way as we work together on your path forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’ve spent several years working in the mental health and counselling field, and I’m passionate about helping people navigate their challenges and find ways to heal and grow. Throughout my career, I’ve had the chance to work in a variety of settings, each shaping my approach and allowing me to connect with clients on a deeper level.

Here’s a bit about my experience and specialisations:

Counselling within the NHS: I’ve worked one-on-one with individuals facing a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I provide practical support to help clients manage their anxiety, alongside offering effective coping strategies to improve emotional wellbeing.

Facilitating Perinatal Mental Health and Wellbeing Courses: Supporting new mothers during the postpartum period is something I’m particularly passionate about. I facilitate pregnancy and postnatal wellbeing groups and courses to offer support to women during a significant time of change. Dealing with postnatal depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts and other challenges which arise when adjusting to the realities of motherhood and regain their sense of self.

Private Practice: I run my own private practice, where I work with individuals seeking support for issues such as stress, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, and personal growth.

Trauma-Informed Practice: With additional Trauma-Informed Practice Certification, I approach each client with an understanding of how past experiences can affect mental and emotional health, helping clients feel safe and supported as they work through their issues.

Bereavement Therapy: Whether clients are dealing with the death of a loved one or other forms of loss, I provide a sensitive and empathetic approach to help them process grief.

Recruitment and Mentoring at a Counselling Agency: I’ve also spent time behind the scenes at a counselling agency, helping to recruit and mentor new trainee counsellors. This role gave me a deeper understanding of what makes a great therapist and has influenced the way I approach my own practice and work with clients.

I hold a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
