About me
My name is Ishpal and welcome to my profile. I am a Senior Counselling Psychologist and I offer individual and couple therapy.
I am an anti-racist psychologist and an active ally of the LGBTQ communities.
How I work
I offer psychological therapy for individuals and couples and I work using an integrative approach, drawing on a number of theories, including: humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, narrative, and psychosexual therapy. I have extensive training and clinical experience working with different therapeutic approaches and this enables me to work flexibly and adapt to meet the needs of my clients. I offer therapy for personal development, for people to gain greater insight into themselves and their relationships, and for a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties.
My experience
In addition to working privately, I work within the NHS as a Senior Psychologist in a sexual health and HIV service. I have more than a decade of experience working with people with long term health conditions and I provide Psychosexual therapy to individuals and couples experiencing sexual problems and relationship issues. My portfolio of experience is varied; I have worked with adults and young people experiencing depression, anxiety, domestic abuse, health anxiety, low self esteem, relationship difficulties and sexual problems and have many years experience working with LGBTQ clients.
I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society and I am committed to high ethical standards of practice and professional development.
Next Steps
Thinking about starting therapy can be anxiety provoking and you may have many questions about what therapy involves. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation as an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about me or the way I work. After this, we can make an appointment for an online consultation.
If you decide to meet with me for an initial consultation, I will use the opportunity to learn more about you, your needs, current difficulties, and hopes for therapy. This is also an opportunity for you see how I work and reflect on how comfortable you feel working with me. Toward the end of this initial consultation we will think together about a way forward.
