About me

As a qualified integrative psychotherapist (MA, MBACP) who practises relationally, I believe the quality of our relationships -  both past and present,  has a huge effect on our sense of self, our self-worth and our ability to manage powerful emotions.   Many of my clients  have experienced difficult or traumatic relationships in childhood or as adults,  and I can help you to reflect on your own  behaviour and relating patterns and support you in letting go of unhelpful defences.  We will consider what has happened to you rather than what is wrong with you,  as well focusing on  how to move forwards in life through forming fulfilling relationships and making  better, freer choices.

Seeking therapy is an overwhelming juncture, you are probably feeling anxious, overwhelmed or a bit low right now. There are any number of reasons my clients come to therapy, perhaps you are facing relationship issues; are coming up against one of life’s major stages; you may be struggling with loneliness or a lack of sense of purpose; you may be confused about a neuro-diversity diagnosis; or perhaps you are finding it hard to balance your work and family life. You may have no idea what’s wrong, but just need someone to talk things through with.

Many of us have a nagging sense that there is something wrong with us and feel ashamed that we should be able to manage problems on our own, I’m here to offer you an uncritical, non-judgemental and impartial relationship to process whatever is going on for you in a compassionate way.

How I work

"Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in." (Leonard Cohen)

I draw on a range of modalities depending on the needs of my clients, this includes reflecting on how past experiences or relationship patterns are affecting us in the present; existential themes of living that all humans deal with, where relevant drawing on useful CBT techniques. Therapy with me is collaborative and relational; the quality of our relationships impacts or wellbeing enormously, and I bring awareness to what is going on in the relationship between us into therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor with an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent’s University, and before that a BA in Philosophy and Italian from Leeds University.

I've worked for 1.5 years at Middlesex University's counselling and psychotherapy service for students, and 2 years working at HQ Therapy's low-cost therapy service.

Previously I spent 15 years working in the TV industry as a talent/literary agent, I have a particular interest in helping people who work on-screen or behind the camera and in supporting freelance careers, as well as with people coping with the combined pressures of family/work and everything in-between.

I am in regular supervision with a UKCP registered psychotherapist.

I am DBS checked and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP 408186) and adhere to the BACP’s ethical framework:

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Therapy can be open-ended or we can agree to a fixed shorter term (normally 6 -12 sessions).

I advise scheduling a free 25-minute phone/video call to discuss what brings you to therapy, our suitability for working together, any questions you have of me, as well as availability/scheduling.

Get in touch by email to book a (free) intro call, or instead to schedule a first (paid) 50-minute assessment session.
