About me
Taking the steps toward therapy can feel overwhelming. So I'd like to provide you with a summary free from jargon.
Have you ever tried to talk about your problems and felt no one was truly listening? Often our concerns are met with solutions and silver linings rather than real understanding.
I aim to provide a space for you to finally feel heard, giving you the opportunity to heal and process what may be happening for you. Through listening with a non-judgemental ear, I am able to gently notice and offer insights into your experience to enable a deeper understanding and growth.
My practice is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and LGBTQ+ inclusive. I have a wealth of experience supporting neurodivergent clients, particularly those with ADHD and Autism, and I am committed to offering a safe and affirming space for people of all identities. My passion is to help you find the freedom to step into your truest, most authentic self without fear of judgment.
I believe in empowering you as the client through working together to discover your own answers. You are the expert on your story it is simply my job to support you in picking up the pieces and fitting them together when life has left you feeling lost.
I believe we are all unique which is why I will work with you in determining what better wellbeing looks like for you as an individual. There is no one size fits all.
Not every therapist is the right approach or the right fit, and that's okay! If this bio resonates with you, please send me an enquiry and we can have an introductory call free from expectation, supporting you through the next steps.
Below are some reflections shared by clients I’ve worked with, offered with their consent:
"I've learned to manage my anxiety better... I've become more aware of how I speak to myself, and grown in self-love and esteem. I have understood how my childhood/past experiences created triggers for me and I've felt able to take the power away. I achieved so much in our therapy I doubted would ever be possible. I will be forever grateful for the work we did together..."
"Absolutely exceeded what I thought was possible. Very quickly created a great environment in which a really great relationship formed allowing great conversation and work."
"I was very apprehensive about starting therapy but it turned out to be the best thing I could have done, Imogen helped me a lot and I'm so grateful. I would recommend it to anyone!"
Training, qualifications & experience
In 2019, I began my formal journey toward becoming a Therapeutic Counsellor through the CPCAB progression route, completing a series of nationally recognised qualifications:
- Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2)
- Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies (CST-L3)
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (TC-L4)
I completed my training with Adept Central, an integrative programme underpinned by a person-centred, non-pathologising approach.
Alongside my studies, I gained frontline experience in the field of substance misuse as a Young Persons Recovery Worker. In this role, I supported individuals in their recovery journey while raising awareness through psychoeducation and harm reduction strategies.
Following this, I joined a specialist SEN school, where I continue to work part-time. Here, I support children with autism, ADHD, and a wide range of additional needs an experience that has deepened my compassion, adaptability, and expertise in neurodiversity. I have also undertaken further specialist training, including:
- Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)
- TeamTeach Positive Behaviour Training (Level 2)
- LEGO®-Based Therapy Intervention
In addition to my SEN role, I hold a position as a Senior Therapist at Tuudae Counselling & Psychotherapy in Burton upon Trent, where I have been practicing for over two years. During this time, I have worked with clients presenting a diverse range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, infidelity, bereavement, and OCD.
I am passionate about providing an inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed therapeutic space. If you would like to know more about my practice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
