About me

Hey, I’m Hermione (she/her) – I am a qualified integrative therapist and registered member of the BACP. I have been supporting adults and young people to reconnect with themselves and their needs while navigating life’s challenges in different settings since 2022. I offer you down to earth, compassionate therapy underpinned by the understanding that meaningful change happens when we experience emotionally safe and secure relationships where we feel held, seen and valued. Nothing exists in isolation; connection is an essential part of our journeys.

I work with a broad range of experiences and struggles. My hope is to offer you a collaborative experience where we find together a way of working unique to you. I hold the belief that you are the expert in your own journey and will be guided by what feels right for you. Therapy can be transformative, but therapy works best within connection and safety. Being integrative means, I have a range of tools and approaches we can explore together. Anything I might suggest in our sessions is only ever an invitation to explore; you are always in control and have unconditional choice.

I specialise in working with autistic and ADHD clients. I take a neuroaffirming approach that values individual difference and the different ways we experience the world. As someone who was late diagnosed AuDHD, I understand how confusing and isolating it can feel to move through the world without language for your experiences, and how powerful it can be to finally feel seen and understood. Outside of my private practice, I work within an Autism and Neurodivergence charity as a specialised counsellor, supporting autistic adults. This role, alongside my own lived experience, continues to deepen my understanding of the neurodivergent experience of living in such a highly demanding contemporary world.

I have completed additional training with the National Centre for Eating Disorders and will soon qualify as a Master Practitioner within their professional body. Eating disorders and offering accessible support towards an individual’s recovery is something I am very passionate about in my work. Recovery goes far deeper than just addressing the core symptoms we experience connecting our body with food, movement and permission; it needs to enhance our life and the relationship we hold with ourselves. You deserve to be met as a human being, not a metric of your symptoms.

I hold the firm belief that meaningful change is possible for everyone and looks different for everyone. I have experience of supporting individuals struggling with a range of food and body-related issues, but I have the most experience supporting individuals with restrictive eating disorders (Anorexia and ARFID) through a neuroaffirming lens, with the understanding of how eating disorders can be part of an adaptive response closely linked to our nervous system.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working in both the private and charity sector, with additional experience of school based counselling.

I hold an Fda in Counselling and currently I am continuing my studies at Sunderland University.

Continued professional development is important to me, so I often attend additional training to enhance my knowledge and skills I can offer. I also prioritise both my own personal and peer supervision to maintain a high standard of professional practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer a concession rate for individuals in receipt of Universal Credit, Carers Allowance and PIP. I really understand that this is an investment and want to work with you to keep therapy accessible and affordable.

Further information

With my own lived experience of therapy, I empathise with how daunting it can be reaching out for help. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours and offer a free, no obligation 30 minutes initial consultation. This creates the opportunity for us to explore together if I am the right counsellor for you. I also welcome all questions you may have about myself or counselling generally.
