Helena Yasar MBACP
Are you feeling sad, anxious or just a bit not yourself and don't know why?
Hello and welcome to my page.
I am currently offering telephone and online counselling services to individuals with a range of presenting problems. I strongly believe that through working together we will be able to create a safe space that will facilitate a journey of growth and healing.
I am a Integrative Counsellor which means that I combine several models of counselling, to fit the needs of each client. This means I tailor the therapy to suit you, because we are all individuals with different needs. I tend to work with a person-centred base, using a non-directive approach allowing my clients to lead the sessions. However, I do pull from different theories, approaches and techniques tailoring my approach to what I believe will be best suited for the client.
What you can expect to experience from our sessions:
- A safe, confidential space to explore your feelings and concerns.
- Be listened to by a trained counsellor who will offer focus, challenge and clarity.
- Be challenged about some of the unhelpful feelings and behaviours that may be hindering your growth.
- Encouragement to make positive choices for yourself.
My knowledge, understanding and experience of various cultures and religions allow me to beneficently work with an understanding of how cultural, traditional and religious expectations and belief systems affect individuals; especially in terms of coming to recognise a sense of self-identity and also understanding one’s self within the standards and expectations of a wider community.
I work with a range of clients with varying ages, cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, and walks of life to create a safe space to allow exploration of one’s self. Providing a space for a client to explore their feelings and experiences without judgment allows the start to a journey of growth where a client can explore their self-worth, self-identity and the value of themselves. Creating this space also allows them to explore the roles they play within other structures such as community, family and friends.
I pride myself in working in a culturally competent way, I am aware of and work to eliminate biases, prejudices, and discriminatory practices. I also ensure that I adapt my style of working based on my client to ensure I am providing the most unique, appropriate, relatable, and effective type of support.
I encourage an initial telephone conversation before booking.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
