Helen Peters MBACP Accred and EMDR Accredited Practitioner
About me
I offer EMDR and CBT online for adults. I specialise in working with a range of anxiety problems including trauma, PTSD, phobias, panic and OCD.
EMDR and CBT are equally as effective online as in person and the added benefits include; time and money saved travelling, greater confidentiality as won't bump into anyone and clients often feel more relaxed in their own environment. Online sessions are usually via Zoom (can also meet via FaceTime and WhatsApp).
I am an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an effective and recommended treatment for trauma and anxiety issues including phobias, panic, OCD and attachment related difficulties.
EMDR is the recommended treatment for trauma in national and international guidelines including NICE and the World Health Organisation.
I am an accredited member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. I am also a member of BABCP (The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies).
I have worked as a therapist for over 10 years in different settings. This has given me experience of working with a wide range of issues including addictions, stress, a range of anxiety issues, depression, relationship problems, abuse and trauma.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
