About me

My name is Helen. I am an NCPS-accredited psychotherapeutic counsellor, trained in a range of therapeutic approaches including Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic therapy. This integrative training allows me to tailor our sessions to you as an individual, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

I believe that counselling works best when it is collaborative, supportive, and centred around your individual needs. Together, we can explore what has brought you to counselling, develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and work towards the goals that are important to you. My approach is balanced and flexible, drawing on different therapeutic modalities where appropriate to support your individual journey.

I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you are unsure what to expect. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental and welcoming space where you can feel heard and understood. Whether you are struggling with something specific or simply feel that things are no longer quite as they should be, counselling can offer an opportunity to pause, reflect and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing.

Most importantly, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to work alongside you, offering support, curiosity and therapeutic insight while respecting your pace and what feels right for you.

Further information

My journey into counselling began in 2017 and grew from something that had always felt natural to me. Throughout my personal and professional life, I often found myself being the person that friends and colleagues would turn to when they needed someone to listen. I have always valued being able to create a space where people feel comfortable talking openly, without judgement, and I found great meaning in supporting others through difficult or challenging times.

My own experience of counselling also played an important part in my decision to train as a counsellor. Experiencing counselling for myself gave me a greater understanding of what it can mean to have a safe, confidential space where you can be truly heard and take time to explore your thoughts and feelings. It helped me appreciate the value of the therapeutic relationship and the importance of having someone alongside you while you navigate your own experiences.

These experiences encouraged me to take the next step and develop my natural ability to listen and support others into a professional counselling career. Training as a psychotherapeutic counsellor has allowed me to build on this foundation, developing the knowledge, skills and therapeutic understanding to support clients in a professional and meaningful way. I feel privileged to be able to offer others the same sense of safety, understanding and acceptance that I know can be so valuable when seeking support.
