About me

Are you feeling stuck? That it's too hard to manage alone? Sometimes outside perspective can help us get out of the rut.

I'm Helen Cuinn, a qualified therapist and group facilitator. I work out of my office in central Clydebank. My recent training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy but my background is in mental health and person-centred care, so I'm flexible in the support I can offer you - be it a listening ear, traditional talking therapy or tools and skills building to reach and maintain goals.

I offer both one-to-one sessions and small groups tackling a wide variety of issues. I can see clients in person or via online platform.

My practice is as inclusive as possible, with a particular interest in supporting the LGBTQI+ and/or neuro-divergent communities. (Please note: Unfortunately, this office is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs. I'm happy to discuss access issue specifics if you require more information).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a SVQ 10 level diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, for individuals and groups. I have worked extensively with clients working on recovery from addiction.

Previous client groups I've worked with include: Acquired Brain Injury, ADHD/Autism spectrum, Addictions Recovery, Adults negotiating ACES, formerly Homeless or Vulnerably Housed, Learning Difficulties, and Mental Health.

I am fully PVG checked for working with vulnerable individuals and groups.

I am ASIST trained and have experience with working with and around thoughts/plans of suicide.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
