I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience. I am a Supervisor and Director at Heart and Mind, our family run confidential counselling and psychotherapy practice, established in 1992. For the last 5 years I have also volunteered as Clinical Lead for a local bereavement charity.
At times being human can be extremely challenging. Talking about this, sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone who will listen to you without judgement can be healing in itself and reduce anxiety.
I will support you in listening to yourself, having kindness for yourself and discovering what is right for you and what you hope to gain from therapy. It may be that you are suffering because of painful memories from the past, or are currently struggling with a difficult situation. Talking through your individual experiences can enable you to move forward with your life, offloading everyday stress can free you up to discover your purpose and find peace of mind.
My belief is that we all have the inner potential to experience more present and satisfying lives. I am very down-to-earth, 'say it how it is', and take both a creative and very practical approach when working with people. I will encourage and support you, as you navigate your new journey.
I work with individuals and couples, as well as supervising other counsellors. Integrity is important to me and I am committed to good ethical practice. I have regular supervision with a BACP, UKRC accredited Supervisor.
We also have Lola our beautiful miniature Daxi therapy dog who sometimes attends sessions, for those who may find her contact helpful, please see her picture at the bottom of the page. (Available on request of client).

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS CLIENTS:
"Heidi is an excellent counsellor - She has fantastic listening skills & is able to suggest and implement the most effective solutions tailored to the individual. My previous counsellor never really understood me - unlike Heidi. Thank you for improving my life!"
"I felt I could truly be honest with Heidi and she listened to everything I had to say, very warm and friendly and she made me feel at ease. The room is very comfortable and relaxing."
"I found Heidi very helpful and understandimg."
"Unlike counsellors I've been to in the past, I felt this therapy gave me 'tools' I could go away with and use for life. The counselling room is comfortable and calming. I felt it was private enough to speak about sensitive issues."
