About me
Hello, and welcome! I am a BACP Registered Counsellor working from the West End of Edinburgh. If you feel drawn to working together, I would love to hear from you.
At the heart of my practice is a fundamental belief in and respect for your agency, intuition, and your capacity to heal and grow in uniquely meaningful ways. My approach is collaborative and I will relate to you as expert in your own process. I will listen without judgement, I won’t make assumptions about what’s best for you, and I invite you to arrive in our sessions just as you are.
The stories we internalise about ourselves and our lives play a significant role in how we live and experience the world. It is my experience that therapy can be a liberatory process of updating or re-writing these stories. As we delve into what’s happened, and what’s happening now, life may begin to look and feel different.
It is my hope that you will feel held, cared for, and understood as we attend to the issues you bring to counselling. I believe that healing is relational, and so my practice pays attention to the dynamics which emerge between us during our therapeutic work. We will likely come from different experiences and positions in the world which impact how we understand ourselves and each other. If it would feel right for you, I welcome exploration of our differences and how we can best understand one another other.
I am committed to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirmative, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQAI+ allied practice, and I engage in ongoing reflexive development as a person and practitioner to support this. I welcome and invite diverse ways of working, including creative and spiritual exploration. I will be led by you as we delve into whatever feels most present for you in our sessions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed core training in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy (Persona Development & Training, Accredited by the BACP) and I am now undertaking a post-qualifying MSc International and Cross-Cultural Counselling (University of Edinburgh).
I have previously worked in community based mental health and youth work, and prior to this I worked in the creative arts.
In addition to my work in private practice, I work as a Counsellor in third sector settings.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am currently able to offer weekly counselling sessions, mostly in person. I work with adults.
I offer a short initial session over the phone or video call, which is intended as an opportunity for us both to learn a bit about each other and decide if we will proceed with working together. I encourage all clients to trust their instincts in finding a therapist who feels right for them and the therapeutic work they want to do.
The main premises I currently work from is on the ground floor, but be aware there are steps leading up to the main door. There is no fully accessible bathroom available in this building, and the only toilet is on a lower floor to which there is no lift, only stairs. Wherever possible, I will endeavour to make arrangements to meet any accessibility requirements to support your attending counselling; please don’t hesitate to discuss any requirements or concerns you may have with me. I would be very happy to know of any changes I can make to facilitate a more comfortable counselling experience for you.
