About me

Welcome — A Safe Place to Be You

I'm a trauma-informed, integrative counsellor offering compassionate, down-to-earth therapy in Exeter and online.

I specialise in working with people who are living with eating disorders, anxiety, trauma, and complex grief (including childhood grief), and I understand how heavy and isolating these experiences can feel.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and grounded in respect for your unique story. I create a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself, make sense of what you’ve been through, and move at a pace that feels right for you. I welcome people of all backgrounds and identities, and you are very welcome to reach out whether you’re in crisis, feeling stuck, or simply curious about starting therapy.

I believe deeply in the power of genuine human connection and in your innate capacity to heal, grow, and rediscover yourself — even when life feels overwhelming.

Therapy with me is a collaborative, gentle process. My role is to meet you where you are, listen without judgement, and support you at your own pace as you make sense of your experiences and move towards the life you want.

How I Can Support You
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be feeling stuck, emotionally flooded, disconnected from yourself, or unsure how to cope with what life has brought your way. You don’t need to have all the answers — or even the words — to begin.

I work with adults and young people experiencing issues such as:

Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm
Eating disorders and difficulties with food and body image
Bereavement and complex grief (including suicide, infertility, and baby loss)
Relationship and family challenges
Trauma and adverse life experiences
OCD and intrusive thoughts
Work-related stress and burnout
Challenges linked to terminal illness
Military family life and its unique pressures
I warmly welcome neurodivergent clients and offer an affirming, flexible approach that respects your individual way of being in the world.

Eating Disorder Support
Eating disorders can take many forms and are often rooted in complex emotional experiences. Whether you are struggling with restrictive eating, bingeing, purging, food anxiety, or body image concerns, you deserve understanding, not judgement.

As a specialist in eating disorders, I offer a safe, compassionate space where we can explore your relationship with food, body, and self. Together, we can gently develop coping strategies, increase emotional awareness, and work towards a more balanced and supportive relationship with food — helping you feel empowered as you move towards recovery.

What Therapy With Me Is Like
Clients often tell me they arrive feeling as though they’re barely holding things together. Your therapy with me will provide a confidential and supportive space where you can speak freely — perhaps for the first time — without fear of burdening others or being misunderstood.

Together, we will:

Explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences safely
Gently unravel what feels confusing or painful
Strengthen your sense of self and self-compassion
Develop coping strategies that truly fit you
Work towards acceptance, clarity, and renewed hope
Many clients leave sessions feeling lighter, more grounded, and more connected to themselves.

My Approach
I practise as an Integrative Counsellor, drawing on a range of therapeutic models to tailor our work to your needs. My approach is rooted in humanistic values, meaning you are always at the centre of our work together.

Alongside talking therapy, we can incorporate creative and reflective techniques where helpful, allowing emotions to be explored in ways that feel accessible and meaningful to you.

My professional background includes work within the charity sector supporting learning-disabled and homeless adults, experience within the NHS, and a lived understanding of military family life — all of which shape my compassionate and inclusive practice.

Play Therapy and Creative Approaches
I am trained in creative therapeutic approaches, which can be especially helpful when words feel hard to find. Creative therapy provides a safe and natural way to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences through creative expression rather than relying solely on conversation.

Play and creative methods may be particularly supportive for children and young people, as well as adults who find it easier to process emotions visually or symbolically. Where appropriate, I integrate play, creativity, and reflective activities into sessions in a way that feels safe, respectful, and attuned to your needs.

Practical Details
I offer:

Face-to-face counselling from comfortable, accessible rooms in Exeter
Online and telephone therapy
Local walk-and-talk sessions
Weekly or fortnightly appointments
I also offer a free, informal introductory phone call, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and see whether we feel like a good fit — with no pressure or obligation.

Your Next Step
Reaching out for therapy takes courage, especially when you’re already struggling. You don’t have to go through this alone.

If you’re curious about working together, I would love to hear from you. You’re very welcome to get in touch to arrange a brief call or to ask any questions by email.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP Accredited), a Post Qualifying Diploma in Eating Disorders (NCS Accredited) and a Diploma in Creative Arts Therapies (NCS Accredited).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I believe therapy is a collaboration, meeting with each person as a whole, encompassing your emotions, thoughts, beliefs, family dynamics, and life circumstances. If you're facing a particular challenge or looking to enhance your self-awareness and relationships, I'm here to help you create positive, long-lasting changes for a healthier and happier life.

I work as an integrative counsellor, which means I carefully utilise different methods of therapy to assist you depending on and adapting to your individual needs. I am also trained to work creatively, helping you to explore and externalise the complexities of life. We can collaborate to create a structure for our sessions or work together in exploration.

Your personal needs come first, and your well-being is my priority. I approach our sessions with empathy and understanding. Through our work together I will help you towards discovering your own insights in a supportive and unbiased manner to gain a deeper understanding of your emotions and a clearer direction for your future.
