How I Can Help

You may be getting on with everyday life - working, parenting and supporting others - while inside, you’re struggling more than people realise.

It’s human to find life challenging sometimes, and there isn’t always one obvious reason - just a sense that something needs to change. I understand how difficult that first step towards healing can feel, and am here to walk you through it with warmth, care and a safe space.

I’m Gurpal Bharj, a qualified person-centred counsellor and founder of Linkswood Counselling. I support adults and teens with difficulties such as, but not limited to, anxiety, overthinking, stress, burnout, low mood, depression, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement and life changes.

I offer in-person counselling in Burnham Village, Buckinghamshire (SL1), within easy reach of Slough, Maidenhead, Windsor and Beaconsfield, as well as online counselling across the UK.

How I work

I offer a calm, confidential and genuinely supportive space where you can talk openly without judgement. My approach is person-centred, meaning we focus on your experience rather than a set agenda or technique.

Clients often tell me they value my calm nature and that they feel genuinely listened to - sometimes for the first time.

Together, we can explore what’s happening for you, understand patterns that may be holding you back, and reconnect with your own thoughts, feelings, values, and sense of self. I’ll work alongside you as you find your own way forward.

You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to start.

We begin where you are.

If something here feels familiar, you’re welcome to get in touch for a free 20-minute consultation call. Further details at www.linkswoodcounselling.co.uk

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
