About me

I understand that taking a first step to starting therapy can be daunting. I appreciate that it can be difficult to talk about painful feelings and experiences affecting you. I aim to provide a safe, empathic, and containing therapeutic space where you can begin to explore and make sense of the things that may be troubling you.

I am a relational integrative psychotherapist working with a variety of different models to tailor the work to your specific needs and goals. I am particularly interested in how relationships influence and transform our lives. It is my understanding that early relationships influence our experience of ourselves and the world around us. In turn the therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity to make sense of these dynamics and facilitate the change you would like to experience.

My Experience and Training

I have almost 8 years of experience working in mental health settings, including in private and charity settings. I have worked with with adults, young people, and teenagers who experience a variety of mental distress presentations including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, self harm, domestic abuse, sexual trauma, relationship difficulties and trauma, identity struggles, and stress.

I have particular experience of working with people who identify with experiencing an eating disorder. During my training I worked at two services specialising in supporting clients with a wide range of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and EDNOS.

I also dedicated a large part of my training to working with clients who are survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. I work from a relational and trauma informed perspective.

I have been trained to worked with a range of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic, humanistic, and CBT, including CBT-E.

Alongside being a qualified integrative psychotherapist, I am in the process of finishing my doctorate in Counselling Psychology. My thesis is concerned with understanding women's experience of pleasure. I have an a keen interest in exploring issues related to women's experiences, heath, and mental health.

Our first session

Whilst I recognise that more and more people are interested and see the value in beginning a therapeutic process, I also understand that finding yourself in a place where you feel like you need therapy is not always in people's life plans. Equally, finding yourself in talking to a stranger about your most private and precious experiences and feelings can feel overwhelming and peculiar. It may take a little time for you to feel comfortable and to build trust with me. We will use our first session to get to know one another better and talk through what has bought you to therapy. We will also discuss your hopes for what the process may help you with.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered UKCP psychotherapist with a Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. I recently finished all taught and professional components of my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy, with just my thesis and viva outstanding.

I am trained in psychodynamic, humanistic, and CBT modalities.

As a member of BPS and UKCP, I work within their ethical framework. I am also professionally supervised by a UKCP registered supervisor.
