About me
Sometimes it's really clear what you want help with – and other times it just all feels like a mess.
I work with people coming to counselling for all sorts of reasons, with particular experience in stress and burnout, anxiety, addictive behaviours, grief and loss, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties.
I believe you have the capacity to find your own way, even when that might feel difficult to imagine. My role isn't to analyse you or tell you what to do, but to work alongside you with warmth and curiosity as we explore whatever you're facing.
How I work
The relationship we build is at the heart of our work together. I'll listen carefully, ask questions and try to understand what life is like for you. I might share something I'm noticing or offer a different perspective. Other times, you might simply need space to talk and be heard.
I took the scenic route to becoming a therapist, after years running my own business and working in tech. I've also spent a fair bit of time meditating and have always loved being outdoors (the wilder the better!).
I welcome people of all backgrounds and identities, including LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients.
Walking therapy
Alongside counselling in central Bristol, I offer walking therapy in Oldbury Court, with its woods, open spaces and paths alongside the river.
Some people find this setting makes it easier to have difficult conversations, while for others the surroundings themselves become part of the session.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Person-Centred Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute and am a registered member of the BACP.
I've been supporting people in various roles since 2016, beginning with Samaritans. This has included several years of counselling experience in community-based services, working with people facing a wide range of difficulties.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
