About me

My Name is Gemma and I am an Integrative Counsellor & Addiction Therapist. If you are reading this then you have taken the first, most important step towards freedom from your troubles. I know it can feel daunting and a little scary when you first start looking for a therapist, but please know that you won't regret it. You are investing in yourself and your future by seeking support and you deserve that!

I believe that therapy should to be tailored to each individual and I am able to use a wide range of approaches to suit you. I believe our relationship is key, and that within this relationship the healing happens. Usually within the first session we will get to know one another and make sure that we are comfortable with each other. This is the most important factor, you need to be able to trust me for therapy to be viable. If we decide that we will work together, we then make a plan of how to take things forward.

Talking therapy is wonderful but can take a long time, I offer insight, solutions and things to work on alongside the talking therapy so that you can feel like you are making changes more or less straight away.

I offer a safe, confidential space, free from judgement or criticism for you to be able to talk through your worries. We will work together to find a way through what is making you uncomfortable or causing you distress.

Please feel free to get in touch for more information, I can offer a free 15 mins telephone conversation, whatsapp video call or zoom video call to ensure you are happy with the process.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Bachelors degree in integrative counselling. Due to my training and lived experience I offer an integrative approach. I have worked with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, loss, bereavement, relationship issues etc.

I have also worked in the addiction field and substance misuse services for over 4 years as a recovery coach, teaching people how to overcome addiction and live without alcohol or substances. I use a completely different approach for clients suffering with addiction, including the use of mindfulness, CBT, ACT therapy and assignment work - some of the tools used in addiction therapy are transferable and can be used alongside other approaches to therapy.
