About me

Hi, I’m Gemma Allen, an Integrative Counsellor and Addiction Therapist. If you’re reading this, you’ve already taken the bravest first step. My approach is warm, down-to-earth and focused on real change—so you don’t just talk, you leave with insight and simple tools you can start using right away. I work with individuals and couples either in person or via video call-

How I work - Tailored to you: I draw from a range of approaches to fit your needs, not the other way around.

 • Relationship first: Feeling safe and understood is the foundation. In our first session we’ll see how it feels to work together and decide next steps.
 • Talk + tools: Alongside talking therapy, I offer clear strategies and practical exercises so you can feel progress from session one.                 What I can help with -
Addiction and recovery, anxiety and overwhelm, low mood, stress and burnout, self-esteem, relationships, life changes and feeling “stuck”.

What to expect
 • A confidential, non-judgemental space to talk openly.
 • A collaborative plan that fits your life and goals.
 • Gentle accountability and doable steps between sessions so change doesn’t have to take forever.
Start here—low-pressure & simple

I offer a free 15-minute chat (phone, WhatsApp video or Zoom) so you can ask questions, get a feel for me, and decide if it’s the right fit—no obligation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Bachelors degree in integrative counselling. Due to my training and lived experience I offer an integrative approach. I have worked with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, loss, bereavement, relationship issues etc.

I have also worked in the addiction field and substance misuse services for over 4 years as a recovery coach, teaching people how to overcome addiction and live without alcohol or substances. I use a completely different approach for clients suffering with addiction, including the use of mindfulness, CBT, ACT therapy and assignment work - some of the tools used in addiction therapy are transferable and can be used alongside other approaches to therapy.
