About me

Hi I'm Gayle, thanks viewing my profile. Most people feel nervous and apprehensive when considering counselling, that's why it's important to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. I'm committed to offering a safe, confidential and non judgemental environment for you.

Sometimes in life we all experience difficulties and issues which can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious or depressed. If you are experiencing overwhelming thoughts and emotions or finding it difficult to make sense of your life at this time, you may benefit from my support in helping you to find clarity, move forward, cope better and enjoy life fully again.

My Approach:

As an Integrative Therapist, I believe there isn't a single therapeutic approach that can treat each person in all situations. Rather, I believe and value each person as a unique individual, as is their needs, therefore my therapeutic approach is always influenced by each individual I work with.

As an Integrative Therapist I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches; My training is in Psychodynamic: Relational and past influences and their effect on your current life; Person Centred: You at the centre and the focus is on your personal growth and CBT/Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Learning to identify and change unhelpful and life limiting thinking patterns that have a negative influence on your life.

I have over 10 years experience in Talking Therapies in the Public, Private and Voluntary Sectors. I have worked with Adults, Young People and Children through a wide range of issues such as, abuse, addiction, anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, identity issues, low self esteem, panic attacks, relationship issues and many more.

I will help you to find personal insight, understanding and progression towards new ways of coping and personal growth.

Getting Started:

If you would like to discuss your needs, you can contact me by email or phone, leaving a message if I'm not available and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

We can then organise an assessment to find if it would be beneficial for us to work together, for you to have an opportunity to ask any further questions and to discuss your needs and to get further information from me on how we can work together.

Counselling Supervision:

As a qualified Counselling Supervisor I offer in person, online and phone appointments to meet your needs.

Initially I am interested in exploring your supervision needs and how I can best work with you to meet those, so you feel fully supported, safe and confident in your client work and personally.

I welcome your questions, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
