About me

Hello, I’m Furzana, a qualified counsellor offering a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported.

I believe that reaching out for counselling can be a significant first step, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes we simply need a safe space to pause, make sense of what we’re experiencing and explore things at our own pace.

My approach is humanistic and integrative, drawing on Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis (TA). I believe that every person is unique, and I work collaboratively with you, tailoring our sessions to your individual experiences, needs and goals.

I aim to create a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, acceptance, respect and trust. My role is not to judge or tell you what you should do, but to walk alongside you as you explore what is happening in your life.

How I Can Help

People come to counselling for many different reasons, and you don’t need to have a diagnosis to seek support.

I can support you with issues such as:

  • Anxiety and feeling overwhelmed
  • Low mood
  • Stress and burnout
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Relationship and family difficulties
  • Life transitions and significant changes
  • Grief and loss
  • Identity and cultural experiences
  • Feeling stuck, lost or uncertain
  • Difficult emotions and experiences

This list isn’t exhaustive. If something is affecting your wellbeing or relationships, you are welcome to get in touch and we can explore whether counselling may be helpful for you.

My Approach

I work from a humanistic and integrative perspective. Person-Centred Therapy allows us to create a relationship based on empathy, acceptance and authenticity. Gestalt Therapy can help us develop greater awareness of our thoughts, feelings and experiences in the present moment, while Transactional Analysis can help us explore patterns in our relationships and the ways we relate to ourselves and others.

You don’t need to understand any of these approaches before starting counselling. We will work together in a way that feels meaningful and appropriate for you.

A Space for Everyone

I welcome clients from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, identities and life experiences.

I recognise that our culture, family, relationships, beliefs and experiences can all shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. I aim to provide a space where you can bring your whole self and feel respected and understood.

I also recognise the importance that faith and spirituality can have in a person’s life. For clients who wish to explore their faith, beliefs or spirituality as part of their counselling, I offer a respectful and non-judgemental space to do so. My approach is not faith-based, but I will always respect and work sensitively with the values and beliefs that are important to you.

My practice is inclusive and welcoming, and I will always meet you as an individual rather than making assumptions about your experiences.

Walking Therapy

For clients who feel more comfortable outside a traditional counselling room, I also offer bespoke walking therapy sessions.

Walking alongside one another can create a different kind of space for reflection and conversation, and some people find being outdoors helps them feel more at ease and connected with their thoughts and feelings.

Walking therapy is tailored to each client and agreed collaboratively, including the location, walking route and session length. Fees are therefore discussed and agreed based on the location and duration of the session.

Walking therapy may not be suitable for everyone or for every stage of counselling, so we can explore together whether this approach feels appropriate and safe for you.

Sessions

I offer individual counselling for adults through:

  • Face-to-face sessions in Cranford
  • Online counselling
  • Bespoke walking therapy sessions
  • Standard counselling sessions are 50 minutes and cost £60. A limited number of concessionary spaces are available.

Walking therapy sessions are bespoke, with the fee depending on the agreed location and length of the session.

If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, you’re welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation. Taking the first step can feel difficult, so there is no expectation that you need to know exactly what you want to talk about.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a BSc in Humanistic Counselling from Metanoia Institute, where I developed a strong foundation in humanistic and integrative counselling practice.

My training incorporated three core therapeutic modalities:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Gestalt Therapy
  • Transactional Analysis (TA)

I have eight years of professional experience within mental health, supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional, psychological and personal challenges. Alongside my counselling training, I have undertaken additional training in trauma, sexual abuse, and drug and alcohol addiction, developing my understanding of the complex ways these experiences can affect individuals, relationships and wellbeing.

Counselling Experience

I currently work as a Volunteer Counsellor with RISE Ealing, providing counselling within a supervised professional setting. This role has enabled me to further develop my therapeutic practice while supporting clients with a range of individual experiences and challenges.

I have experience working with clients who have experienced trauma and sexual abuse, and understand the importance of creating a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. I recognise that discussing difficult or painful experiences can feel daunting, and I work at a pace that respects each person’s individual needs, boundaries and readiness.

Online & Telephone Counselling

As part of my professional training and development, I have been trained and have experience in providing counselling online and by telephone, alongside face-to-face work.

I understand that not everyone feels comfortable or able to attend counselling in person. Online and telephone counselling can provide greater flexibility and accessibility while still offering a confidential and supportive therapeutic space.

I provide remote counselling using appropriate professional and confidential arrangements.

My Therapeutic Approach

My counselling practice is grounded in a humanistic and integrative approach. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful counselling and that every person should be met as an individual, without judgement or assumptions.

I draw on Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis, adapting my approach collaboratively according to each client’s needs, experiences and goals.

Continued Professional Development

I am committed to ongoing professional development and continue to build my knowledge and therapeutic skills through further training, learning and clinical supervision.

As a member of BACP, I am committed to working in accordance with professional and ethical standards and maintaining safe, respectful and effective practice.

My aim is to provide a confidential, inclusive and welcoming space where you can explore what is happening in your life at your own pace.

You don’t have to navigate everything alone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

At The Listening Room, I aim to create a counselling space that feels welcoming, respectful and accessible to everyone. I welcome people from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, identities and life experiences.

I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about or have everything worked out before you begin. We can take time to explore what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I offer face-to-face counselling in Cranford, as well as online and telephone counselling, providing flexibility for clients who may prefer to access therapy from home.

I also offer bespoke walking therapy for clients who feel they may benefit from being outdoors while engaging in therapeutic conversations. Walking therapy is tailored to the individual, with the location, route and length of the session agreed together beforehand. This can provide a different environment for reflection and exploration while maintaining a therapeutic and confidential space.

My practice is grounded in empathy, respect and collaboration. I believe counselling is not about being told what to do, but about having the space to explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply and consider what you may want to change.

I also recognise that culture, identity, relationships, family, faith and spirituality can be important parts of a person’s experience. Where clients wish to explore these areas, I provide a respectful and non-judgemental space to do so.

If you’re considering counselling and would like to know more about how I work, please feel welcome to get in touch.
