About me
I am a BACP accredited therapist and supervisor, individually qualified to work with Adults, Children and Young People (5-18) and Couples.
Accepting each person as unique, I will work at your pace with compassion, empathy and non-judgement, to better understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Working together, we will explore your emotions, relationships and experiences supporting self-healing and well-being in a respectful and calm space.
I offer a 20-minute telephone call, without cost, for you to see if I am the right person for you and to ask any questions you may have about how I work. Please do not hesitate to contact me. Further information can be found on my website https://www.letstalk@therapywithfrancine.com
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a doctorate in policy and worked with adults, children and families in a professional capacity in the area of policy and safeguarding for many years. I worked in the corporate, health and educational sectors and am a qualified trainer (PGCE). This experience I draw on to ensure that I work ethically with clients as a therapist, and I place safeguarding at the centre of my private therapy practice.
I am a qualified counselling supervisor and have trained to work face-to-face, online and via the telephone with clients. Specialist post-qualification training and research includes for trauma, neurological diversity and dementia.
I have qualified separately to work with Couples (Juliet Grayson Couples Therapy); Children and Young People (Combined levels 5 and 6 Person-Centred therapy); and Adults (Advanced Diploma Level 4).
Continuous Professional Development includes (but is not limited to), play therapy, trauma-informed work, career coaching and working with anger.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
My training has been integrative and humanistic. Psychodynamic, Gestalt, CBT and Transactional Analysis are some of the approaches that I offer which are tailored to your choices.
Adult Therapy - As an adult you may feel sad, tense, lonely, angry or simply unable to feel calm or relaxed. Feelings can be complex and overwhelming; I will work with you with compassion, empathy and non-judgement to share feelings and gently explore, working towards self-healing.
Child and Young Person Counselling - I offer play therapy and diverse resources, as well as talking therapy, to explore the complexities of growing up, transitions, managing difficult feelings and life events that children and young people experience and bring.
Couples Therapy - work includes: non-married, married, family relationships (e.g. parent and child) and work relationships. Therapy provides a neutral, safe space to talk to each other, to be heard and to work with changes you may be seeking.
It is your choice about how long you remain in therapy. For some benefits are felt immediately, for others work carries on for months, or over a year. As part of my practice we review regularly with the aim of having a planned ending to ensure that therapy finishes safely for you.
