About me

Hello, and a warm welcome to my profile.

My name is Frankie. I am a BACP-registered counsellor, and UKCP registered trainee integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor. I work in Oxford and across the UK remotely. I am experienced in supporting a diverse range of experiences. I am an LGBTQIA+ therapist, with lived experience of neurodivergence.

You are very welcome to explore my profile and to reach out with any questions.

Therapy

There are many reasons why somebody may consider seeking counselling – including (but certainly not limited to) coping with burnout, anxiety, the stressors and pressures of modern society, experiencing life transitions, or navigating complex relationships. Whatever your reasons, counselling can offer a safe, accepting and insightful environment in which to process difficult and overwhelming things with another person.

Reaching out in seeking counselling is not always easy and so requires a sensitivity and respect on the part of the receiving therapist. If you are ready to take that step, then I would be glad to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

How I work

I work integratively, meaning that I aim to understand and honour the different parts and experiences that make up a person in their fullness. It also means that, throughout therapy, I adapt my approach to suit your unique needs. To do so, I draw on different approaches to counselling – mainly the relational, person-centred, existential and psychoanalytic. Trauma-informed and anti-oppressive principles are at the heart of my approach.

You determine what you would like from counselling. My aim is to provide a kind, informed, genuine and non-judgemental space wherein you can explore, according to your pace and comfort, some of what could be happening for you - past, present and future.

Neuroaffirming practice

Whether in therapy, mentoring, psychoed or consultancy, I specialize in supporting neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with ADHD and Autism. My approach is shaped by my own lived experience of neurodivergence, and commitment to anti-oppressive practices and inclusivity. I believe in building relationships that facilitate insight, ease and growth, combining creativity, experience, person-centredness and a trauma-informed practice to do so.

Experience

Beyond counselling, I have seven years of full-time experience working relationally and in caring roles with children and young people across various settings, including residential care, education, supported housing, youth and grassroots organisations, and I possess extensive trauma-informed care experience. I have several years of coaching and mentoring experience and currently facilitate creative psychoeducation groups.

Qualifications

I hold a BSc in Psychology from the University of Reading, a Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Regents University, and a PgCert (L5) and PgDip (L6) equiv. in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick, where I am completing my MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy (L7).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

First steps: How does it work?

Finding the right therapist for you is so important. If you would like to make an enquiry, please get in touch at frankie@frankiejonespsychotherapeuticcounselling.co.uk. I aim to reply within 48 hours.

  • I suggest that we start with a brief phone call, if this feels comfortable, so that I can get an understanding for what brings you to counselling.
  • If you would like to proceed, we can then arrange an initial 50-minute session to assess whether my services and approach would be a good therapeutic fit for you, and to allow you to ask any questions that you may have.
  • Before we meet, I will provide some more formal written information on what to expect (around confidentiality, cancellation, holidays and so on), as is standard, for you to consider.
  • During the initial session, you and I would discuss the above and any questions you may have, and you may then wish to take some time to consider going ahead.

I do not charge for initial sessions unless you and I decide to proceed with counselling, in which case it will be charged according to the usual hourly rate

Thank you for visiting. I very much welcome your enquiry, to see how I might best support you.
