About me
About Me
I’m Flo, a psychodynamic counsellor and parent–infant relationship specialist with over 38 years of experience supporting people through some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
My journey into therapeutic counselling began with a deeply personal calling to care for others. I spent more than three decades working as a nurse in the NHS, across general medicine and psychiatric settings with both adults and children. It was a profoundly rewarding path that allowed me to walk alongside individuals and families during deeply intimate and often challenging times in their lives.
Over the years, I found myself increasingly drawn to the emotional and psychological roots of healing - to understanding not just what people were experiencing, but why. This led me to train as a psychodynamic counsellor and eventually open my own practice. My nursing background continues to inform my work today, giving me a grounded, compassionate understanding of emotional wellbeing across the lifespan.
Mother–Baby & Perinatal Support
I specialise in mother–baby work, with over 22 years of experience focused on infant mental health, early bonding, and the emotional wellbeing of the parent–baby relationship.
Pregnancy and early parenthood can be beautiful, but they can also be overwhelming, unexpected, and complex. Meeting your baby for the first time often carries hopes, fears, and preconceived ideas about how things “should” feel.
I offer a gentle, reflective space to explore experiences such as postnatal depression, anxiety, bonding difficulties, birth trauma, infertility, unresolved childhood experiences, or grief following baby loss. Together, we can begin to untangle what may be getting in the way of connection - strengthening the parent–infant bond while supporting your own emotional wellbeing.
My approach is warm, thoughtful, and grounded in attachment theory, always moving at a pace that feels safe for you.
Therapy for Adults
I offer therapy for adults navigating trauma, historic abuse, or recent overwhelming experiences. I work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, and emotional dysregulation, as well as those processing grief, loss, or significant life transitions.
You may feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. Together, we can explore the patterns that have shaped your experiences, helping you move toward greater emotional clarity, self-understanding, and confidence.
Therapy for Couples
Couples counselling offers a supportive space for partners who may feel stuck, disconnected, or caught in recurring relational patterns. Whether you are seeking to rebuild trust, strengthen communication, or nurture a deeper connection, therapy provides a space where both voices can be heard and understood.
I also work with couples navigating the psychological impact of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) - a journey that can bring hope, anxiety, grief, and emotional strain in equal measure. I offer a compassionate space to explore the stress of fertility treatment, strengthen communication, and help you stay connected through the uncertainty and intensity of this experience.
Across all areas of my work, my approach remains warm, reflective, and attachment-based. I offer a safe, thoughtful space where you can explore your feelings, understand your patterns, and strengthen your relationship with yourself, your partner, and your baby.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
