About me

When everything feels heavy or confusing, it’s natural to long for a place that feels steady, somewhere you don’t have to “hold it all together".

In therapy with me, you’re met with calm, curious attention that doesn’t rush you, fix you, or judge you. Over time, that kind of presence can soften anxiety, ease the sense of being alone with things, and create the safety needed for real change.

You might be coming because life feels uncertain or overwhelming. You may be grieving, questioning your direction, feeling stuck, or noticing patterns in relationships that keep repeating. Many people I work with struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-worth, trauma symptoms, or a foggy sense of “I don’t know who I am.”

I offer a space where these experiences can be explored with compassion and transparency. My belief is that therapy is ultimately about hope, empowerment, and choice. When hope fades, we can become trapped by external expectations or old stories about who we’re allowed to be. My role is to come alongside you as a genuine, perceptive partner, helping you reconnect with your own resources and find a sense of value that comes from within rather than from others.

Together, we gently question the external narratives and judgments that often dictate how you "should" be living. We will explore the underlying anxiety, stress, and low mood, not just to manage them but to understand what they might be signaling about your freedom, responsibility, and deeper priorities. This process allows us to move toward a profound self-acceptance that holds both your pain and potential, leading you toward authentic clarity.

My Approach: Relational, Integrative, and Grounded.
The relationship between us is central to the work. It provides a safe, honest, and non-judgemental space where you can reflect and discover new ways of experiencing yourself. Clients often describe me as:

  • Warm, accepting, and genuinely curious: I bring compassion and a touch of humour to the work, helping you feel truly seen rather than judged.
  • Insightful and perceptive: I can often help you quickly cut through complexity to pinpoint the core issue while holding all perspectives with objectivity and openness.
  • Strong and uplifting: I offer an energy that instils a sense of safety and hope, even when you feel most vulnerable. I am willing to meet you at points of discomfort and stay connected through vulnerability.

My work is rooted in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. This means I focus on understanding you as a whole person (mind, body, and spirit) and draw flexibly on different approaches to support your process.

Modalities I Integrate:

  • Person-Centred Therapy: Offering empathy, honesty, and deep acceptance as the foundation of our work.
  • Psychodynamic Understanding: Reflecting on how early relationships and attachment patterns may quietly shape your emotions, behaviours, and relational choices today.
  • Relational Psychotherapy: Paying attention to what happens between us in therapy and gently using the safety of the therapeutic relationship to explore and heal painful relational patterns.
  • Existential Therapy: Supporting you to explore meaning, freedom, responsibility, and how you want to live when anxiety, depression, or stuckness appears.

More About Me
To give you a fuller sense of who I am, I believe that a life well-lived is non-linear and includes many different chapters, all of which shape my perspective and practice.

I have always enjoyed meeting people where they are and creating spaces where people feel genuinely seen. This quality of connection was deeply satisfied by my love of play and group activity, where I developed a strong appreciation for the mind-body connection and the joy of belonging.

When I experienced an injury, it fundamentally changed how I related to my body. Losing that established way of being brought a deep sense of disconnection from myself and others. Working through that loss was a powerful lesson in vulnerability, and it fostered a genuine compassion for the life events that truly affect our well-being.

This search for new ways of being and living led directly to my long-standing interest in meaning. As Viktor Frankl beautifully stated, “If you have a why to live for, you can withstand almost any how.” The playful spirit of exploration and the comfort I found in connecting with others and myself now inform my work and lie at the heart of my practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP Registered Member (MBACP) with a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. I follow the BACP Ethical Framework, ensuring my work is safe, confidential, professional, and guided by respect for your autonomy and well-being.

My training included in-depth study of Person-Centred, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, and Existential approaches, as well as supervised clinical practice.

I have experience counselling adults dealing with profound life challenges at a Nottingham-based charity. This clinical work gave me a deep, practical understanding of the universal human condition and the common, complex issues that bring people to therapy, including:

  • Grief and Loss: Complex, traumatic, or anticipatory grief around sudden loss, identity changes, or major life transitions.
  • Trauma and Identity: Dealing with the trauma of unwanted change, loss of self-confidence, and self-worth.
  • Existential Distress: Fragility of life, questions of meaning, and navigating the search for purpose.
  • Relationship Issues and Isolation: Navigating family dynamics, social isolation, and loneliness.
  • Systemic Issues: Exploring the impact of discrimination, bullying, or abuse.

I offer both short- and long-term therapy. Our work together can be a space to better understand yourself, feel more grounded, and find ways to live in alignment with your own values and needs.

Recent CPD includes:

  • Exploring the Mother Wound: Focus on working with early relational trauma, attachment patterns, and the impact of primary caregiving relationships on adult identity and self-worth.
  • Working Creatively with the Body: Explored practical, non-verbal, and creative techniques for integrating physical awareness and somatic experience into therapeutic sessions, particularly for grounding and trauma work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
