About me
I am a Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapist qualified to work with children, young people and adults. I draw on a variety of different theories, including Transactional Analysis, and my approach is person-centred. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space for you and help you to make sense of what is causing any issues. Everyone has their own unique experiences in life, and times when they feel less than “OK”, whether it be, in relationships, life events or health issues. I work relationally, taking the time to listen, build trust and give understanding, to thoughts and feelings that you bring. You may need practical help and coping strategies, or to talk and make sense of certain problems in your life. You may want to explore deeper, into patterns of behaviour, which have stopped you being your 'authentic self.' Our work can be tailored to your own goals, at a pace that is comfortable. When working with children I often use creative methods such as storytelling, sand tray work, clay, puppets and painting.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience of working with a wide age range of children and adults and in a variety of settings including; schools, charities and a GP surgery. I have worked, and have specialist knowledge of children and families who have suffered domestic abuse, and children and families with additional needs. I work with a range of issues including: domestic abuse; ADHD; Autism; grief and loss; abuse; bullying; low self-esteem; anxiety; depression; trauma and PTSD; relationship problems, and women's issues, phobias and anger.
I hold a level 7 Diploma in Child Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Adult Specialism, involving 5 years of study, training, and practice at the Northern Guild. I am a registered, and accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am a registered member of the British Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP) and work in line with both codes of ethics. I am also a member of the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy.
I am fully insured, hold a current enhanced DBS and am registered with the ICO.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
