About me
Hi, I am Fayola, a friendly, warm and empathetic counsellor, based in north Bristol, offering in-person, online and telephone sessions.
We can feel overwhelmed in life for many reasons, anxiety, depression, sadness, disconnection, relationships, low self-esteem or be unsure of what's troubling us, whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I will support you in gaining new insight and finding healing tools that work best for you, offering a deeper understanding of yourself, and your experiences. Our relationship will give you the opportunity to express yourself, be heard, build confidence, esteem and make your own decisions.

I offer a warm, safe, inclusive and non-judgmental space, to discuss and explore what's on your mind. Our work will help you gain new awareness, and together find new coping mechanisms, which assist's in creating healthy change.
This can lead to empowerment, self-compassion and a more rewarding, happier and balanced life.

Qualifications:
Professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling (Prof Dip Psy C)
Certificate in dealing with distress: Working with suicide and self-harm
Certificate in A black empathetic approach to therapeutic practice
Certificate in advanced adult safeguarding
Experience:
I have years of experience working with anxiety, depression, or feelings of overwhelm, sadness, being stuck, relationship problems, family issues, anger, suicidal ideation, self-harm, low mood, trauma, low self-esteem, guilt, shame, perfectionism, purpose and the meaning of life, through offering one to one counselling sessions, facilitating peer support groups and working in a rape crisis centre with victim/ survivors.
Black empathetic approach:
I offer a Black empathetic approach, and have experience of working with the Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) community and am a part of this community, I pioneered a peer support group for women of colour in 2020, in response to the community’s needs, to support with the feelings, experiences and flashbacks of racial trauma, anxiety, and low-mood arising. I hold additional certification in a black empathetic approach to therapeutic practice.
Trauma informed approach:
I have years of experience working with people who have experienced sexual violence, abuse or assault at some point in their lives, and worked in a rape crisis centre for the last two and a half years supporting victim/ survivors offering a trauma informed approach.
