Hi, I am Fayola, a friendly, warm and empathetic counsellor, based in north Bristol offering in-person, online and telephone sessions.
Are you feeling stuck or overwhelmed in life? Whatever your reason for seeking therapy: Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship's, feeling lonely, sad, upset or unsure of what's troubling you?
I can help you gain new insight and find healing tools that work best for you, offering a deeper understanding of yourself, and your experiences. I have a passion for supporting people and our relationship will give you the opportunity to express yourself, be heard, build confidence, esteem and make your own decisions.

Our work will help you gain new awareness, and together find new coping mechanisms, which assist's in creating healthy change offering empowerment, self-compassion and a more rewarding, happier and balanced life.

Training, qualifications & experience
Qualifications:
Professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling (Prof Dip Psy C)
Certificate in dealing with distress: Working with suicide and self-harm
Certificate in A black empathetic approach to therapeutic practice
Experience:
I have many years of experience working with anxiety, depression, feelings of overwhelm, sadness, being stuck, relationship breakdown, family issues, anger, suicidal ideation, self-harm, dyslexia, low mood, trauma, low self-esteem, guilt, shame, fear, perfectionism, purpose and the meaning of life.
My approach:
My approach is inclusive, I offer Person Centred at the core, Psychodynamic and Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), I believe that one approach does not fit all, as we are unique individuals, with our own stories and experiences, I interweave these approaches to suit your personal needs and therapy goals.
Black empathetic approach:
I offer a black empathetic approach to therapeutic practice, this approach is inclusive and can be tailored and used to suit your individual needs, I have experience of working within the Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, and am a member of this community, I pioneered a peer support group for women of colour in 2020, in response to the community’s needs, to hold space for healing and support with the feelings, experiences and flashbacks of racial trauma.
Trauma informed approach:
I have years of experience working with people who have experienced sexual violence, abuse or assault at some point in their lives, and worked in a rape crisis centre supporting victim/ survivors offering a trauma informed approach.

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
