About me

Hello and welcome to Faye Westwood counselling

I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support and know where to look for it.

My aim for the therapeutic process is to provide a confidential, safe space in my lovely private therapy room in Newton Abbot. I offer a warm, compassionate, and supportive environment which can allow individuals to feel seen, heard, and valued, something that I am passionate about.

I have experience of working with individuals from all walks of life with a diverse range of backgrounds. Alongside my private practice, I also work with a local community charity offering affordable counselling, and volunteer at a local secondary school, working with young people.

Individuals living with specific conditions, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed, I see you! I will embrace your individual needs and requirements, and work in a way that is as unique as you are. No two people are the same; we’re all individuals and deserve to be seen as such.

Counselling can help you explore your current issues in a compassionate space, I go at a pace suitable for you, whether that’s led by you or maybe with some gentle encouragement from me.

In our sessions, you will have the opportunity explore your issues at a safe pace, in a compassionate environment and my approach as an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor can include a flexible framework offering different approaches, that we can collaborate with the deep-rooted foundation being Person-Centred, but I can also integrate other approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Gestalt and Transactional Analysis Therapy (TA) and Mindfulness.

I have experience in working with the following presenting issues:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Worry
  • Life Transitions
  • Abuse
  • Trauma (past or present)
  • Bullying
  • Relationship difficulties with a partner, family, friends or colleagues
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Neurodivergence
  • Shame
  • Anger

 Children aged 8yrs +

Using creativity and play, I support and gently encourage the exploration of feelings and emotions, including regulation, and how to ground ourselves when feeling unregulated, all done in a safe, nurturing, and fun way.

Young People

Life can be challenging and confusing for young people. I create a safe environment for them to feel able to talk about and understand their emotions, worries, school concerns, and relationships. This is tailored to the individual needs.

Adults 18+

Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, navigating life transitions, or relationship difficulties. I offer a safe space for you to explore and reconnect with yourself using integrative therapeutic methods tailored to your individual needs.
