About me

My whole career has been in a therapeutic setting, helping people to feel better. As a psychotherapeutic counsellor now, my practice is based on my relational skills and capacity to empathise,  gained over all those years.

I look to see you as you see yourself, hear you as you want to be heard, and through warmth and steadiness provide  an opportunity for  insight and awareness through understanding . Our therapeutic relationship can throw new light on thoughts and behaviours ,reframing them , identifying unhelpful patterns.

Together, without bias or assumptions, we explore ways and possibilities for change.

This may involve gently and respectively challenging these patterns of behaviour that may not be serving you, bringing clarity and self awareness instead.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BACP Accredited Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Northern Guild.

DBS cert.

ICO cert.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I really believe a ‘good match’ between counsellor and  client is  key . To find out if my experience is  best suited to your needs , l offer a complementary  10 minute  telephone conversation, or  face to face meeting . I invite you to describe  what has brought you to counselling and discuss what you hope to get from sessions.

Please text me on the number provided to arrange a call.

The conversation may result in you making an appointment or reflect before deciding, or if appropriate a recommendation to seek a different type of support.

Before therapy sessions are able take place, and as safety and confidentiality is essential, a contract outlining boundaries and other important information is given to every client to read and if we decide to proceed signed and returned.
