About me

'People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be'    Carl Rogers, A Way of Being.

Life can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster and finding your own voice can be hard.

Our often frantic pace of living can leave us feeling as if there is no option  but to put our own voice into a 'box' so that we can carry on through difficult times, no matter how strange our lives can sometimes feel.  Talking things through with someone, allowing yourself a moment to breathe and giving your own voice a time to be heard, can be helpful in finding your feet again.

My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental space for anyone looking to take the first step into talking things through. I work in a person-centred way which means an acknowledgement that you are the expert on yourself - we are all different in that we will all have a unique life journey but we are also all the same in that we are human.  Remembering that we are not superhuman can sometimes help to relieve the pressure to be perfect.

Person-centred work allows us to explore any issues you may bring in a non-judgemental, empathic and safe space - allowing you to find and value your own voice at your own pace.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the BACP.   Although I work initially in a person-centred way and deeply value the client autonomy this allows, I am also interested in the many other different theories of counselling and aim to work integratively in whatever way feels best for my clients.

I have experience in working with many of the challenges that can arise throughout our lives and believe that although we all have a unique life journey, we are all human beings who will benefit most of all from connection with another.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
