About me

I am person centred counsellor that can offer support with common life issues and stresses. I am also an experienced bereavement counsellor; I have been volunteering with Cruse Bereavement Support since 2021.

What is Person Centred Counselling?

Person centred counselling works on the premise that we all know what we want and need from life. However, our experiences and relationships cause blocks in us being able to connect to and work towards that version of ourselves. All of these can start to change our behaviour and mould us into a version of ourselves that we don’t necessarily connect to, identify with or want to be. This can lead to feelings of confusion, internal conflict, feeling disconnected from yourself, feeling lost or stuck.

As a person-centred counsellor, I will facilitate you in identifying those blocks and obstructions and support you in finding and reconnecting with yourself. Along the way this should start to empower you, enabling you to do what feels right and authentic for you and to rely on yourself.

I strive to provide a space that feels free of judgement; a space where you can truly be and express yourself without fear of repercussion. I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship aids the counselling process. Although the over-arching approach and theory will be the same, I endeavour to build a unique relationship with each of my clients, finding a way of working that feels comfortable and right for us both.

How can therapy help?

One of the biggest benefits of counselling that clients have fed-back to me, is having a confidential space to speak freely without judgement. Secondly, to feel truly heard and accepted. not just listened to. Lastly, speaking to someone who isn't involved in the situation or their lives and who is objective has also been a great help; knowing the space and time is allocated to them, their experiences and their feelings.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic counselling - person centred approach.

I have volunteered with Cruse bereavement services for 2 years and have experience dealing with a multitude of different types of losses and bereavements. I am trained as an assessor for Cruse.

I facilitate group bereavement sessions with Cruse and outreach to other local services such as Greenwich Carers. I have also made and run a 'loss and change' workshop as part of this work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
