About me
Welcome, I'm Emma (she/her).
I'm a therapist who works primarily with a style of therapy called existential psychotherapy. This means that my approach is primarily grounded in existential philosophy and ethics.
I also integrate intersectional feminist, queer and decolonial therapy perspectives into my work.
Existential therapy does not seek to interpret the challenges of human existence through the lens of disorder or illness. Rather, it invites us to notice, describe and honour our unique ways of responding to life’s dilemmas.
While each therapy process unfolds differently, the relationship we build together is always at its heart. I aim to facilitate a relationship that feels warm, open, and honest.
Under these conditions, I find a unique kind of dialogue can emerge - one that helps us to listen to and better understand our experience of the world.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed 4 years of clinical and academic training in psychotherapy at Regent’s University London. I am currently undertaking an advanced qualification in Existential Psychotherapy at Regent's University London.
This is a broad training that covers relational approaches, psychodynamic therapies, person-centred therapies, attachment-informed therapies, embodiment as well as existential psychotherapy. I have focused especially on phenomenological and philosophically-informed approaches in my training, as well as social justice informed therapy.
Alongside my work as a therapist, I volunteer with London Friend (Antidote) as a keyworker supporting LGBTQ+ individuals who are concerned about their relationship with drugs and/or alcohol.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist, I worked in qualitative healthcare research (academic and commercial) exploring people’s experiences of health, illness, and care.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Initial consultation
It matters that you find a therapist who feels right for you. With this in mind, I offer a free 20 minute Zoom call to discuss if we might be a good fit.
This is a chance for us to find out a little about each other and see if we both feel comfortable working together.
During this call, you can get a sense of my approach and style, ask any questions about the process, and we can also clarify fees and potential session arrangements.
