About me

Are you lying awake at night struggling with anxiety, stress or reliving thoughts and feelings of a past experience? Are you experiencing levels of anxiety or intrusive thoughts that you cannot put your finger on the core reason? It’s not easy to share, show vulnerability and acknowledge the risk involved. I like to think of myself as a more relational and approachable therapist, committed to creating a safe and contained environment for whoever feels brave enough to begin that journey with me. I offer weekly and bi-weekly online counselling sessions, for clients to feel secure and comfortable reaching out and gaining that opportunity remotely.

Sometimes the pain perhaps from a past trauma or current situation, becomes so overwhelming you are reluctant to ask for help. I allow my clients to lead, to take their time in our sessions and to use the space in the way they need. I am an integratively trained client-led therapist, focussing on the immediacy and the here and now, as well as looking into childhood and together broadening awareness of behaviours, patterns and curiosity in their function.

Sometimes we crave relief from these thoughts. Sometimes those thoughts are jumbled, messy and confusing to understand. I cannot offer to eradicate them for you. But together, we can unpack and unpick and explore and stay curious about where they stem from, how they are impacting you and perhaps look into what you would like that future to look like for you. Often that can lead to areas of acceptance work and the challenges in that.

Having previously worked for Kingston Bereavement Service and focussing on grief and loss, I have come to learn the complexity and hardships in the process of grief. Anger, frustration, the sense of emptiness. Loss does not just stem from a bereavement but covers so many areas of life. The loss of relationships, loss of a sense of identity or a sense of self.

I work solely with all adults across a broad spectrum of mental health issues, cognitive barriers, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma and any areas of life or obstacles which you would like the space to gain clarity on. I have also worked with individuals engaging with promiscuity and sexually related and driven behaviour.

I attend regular supervision and am committed to improving my service by attending professional development courses. The ethical guidelines that underpin my work are defined by the BACP (https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
