Training, qualifications & experience
My name is Emily, and I am a Person Centred (Holistic) Therapist, who practices in a trauma-informed way. I work hard to ensure our sessions are neurodivergent-affirming and an LGBTQAI+ safe space too.
Person Centred Counselling is a type of talking therapy that prioritises making each individual client feel comfortable and at ease in their own unique way. Sessions may look a little different with each client, depending on your needs, but I won't make any assumptions or judgements. There's no forced agenda here; you can bring any issue as many times as you like. Additionally, if there are any ways I can make you feel more at home whilst we chat, then I'm more than happy to try and accommodate for that. Prefer to move around as we chat? Sure. Having a blanket or some music on? Doing an activity together, if just sitting and speaking feels too much? All good with me! I welcome all suggestions.
Given my research, and having personal experiences through my family and friends, I often work a lot with autistic and ADHD clients. I work hard to try and make the counselling process as comfortable and considerate as possible for the neurodivergent community.
In order to make sure my work is flexible to your individual needs, I have a few different therapy styles in my skill set, which we can decide to use if you require something different to talking therapy. These include trauma treatment programmes, internal family systems and a variety of creative techniques. A full list of therapies offered can be found towards the end of my page.
In terms of topics, I work a lot with themes of grief, anxiety, self esteem, agoraphobia, physical and mental disability, and emotional regulation skills. However, I encourage all of my clients to bring whatever is most on their mind that day, as I want to talk through whatever you need to. I really trust that you know yourself better than anyone, so our sessions would work like a collaboration between your own self understanding, and my perspective as a therapist. Together we can try and work out your goals and how we can best make them work for you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
