About me

Hi, I’m Ellen, I am a warm, friendly and empathic therapist.  I offer a trusting and safe space for both adults and young people to explore whatever it is you are experiencing or whatever your hopes are for change.  I am a qualified BACP registered Integrative therapist using predominantly a Person-Centred approach and also influenced by compassion and nature.  I offer long and short term work via Zoom, Face2Face and Walk & Talk.  I operate from the Essex Coast and North London.  My role is to be beside you, guiding you towards a positive sense of self, greater clarity and a calmness to what it is you are going through.

As an Integrative therapist and essentially Person-Centred, I place you at the heart and incorporate aspects of other therapies we feel might be best suited to you, such as Psychodynamic, ACT, Play Therapy and Nature Therapy.  If you are feeling anxious, depressed, finding it hard to cope, or just want to be listened to confidentially, talking-therapy using self-kindness, compassion and aspects of nature can often help us to feel more balanced and that things are more manageable.

I have a particular interest in working with self-worth, relationship difficulties, parenting issues, depression, anxiety and managing change.   I particularly enjoy working alongside women exploring ways to discover a greater sense of self-worth and confidence to trust in themselves, especially in working through overwhelming difficulties.

With years of experience in education and as a Place2Be trained counsellor I am also very interested in working with young people guiding them to explore a better sense of self, feeling comfortable within themselves and identifying ways to cope in the future.

Past clients have remarked, with the “kindness and understanding” they have received, they have been helped to “transform their own lives and their family’s”

I offer an initial free of charge 15-20 minute telephone call to check we are a good fit.  If we are happy to proceed, this would be followed-up with a 50 minute consultation session (fees apply) and we can then decide on whether you would prefer long or short term work.  We would regularly check-in with each other to ensure you are receiving the right help and support as this is an important feature toward your progress and satisfaction.

I have locations on the Essex Coast and North London, please feel free to enquire.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a PGDip in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a BSc in Psychology and I am Place2Be trained (Levels 2-3) working with young people.   My background is in education (Montessori and Forest School).   I currently work supporting individuals and family work in the charity sector and work in Private Practice.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
