Open Door Counselling- Huddersfield
Who are you becoming? If you’re longing to step out from under the weight of past pain and discover a clearer, freer sense of self, I’m here to walk that journey with you.
I help in areas of Self-worth and identity, abuse, stress, anxiety, relationships, parenting, spirituality, loss, and grief.
Whether you’re struggling with something happening right now or something from long ago, we can explore it together at your pace. My approach is relational, person‑centred, and integrative. Sometimes we may use creative or exploratory activities to deepen the work; other times, we’ll simply talk - perhaps over a warm brew.
As a Christian in the local church, I’m comfortable including spirituality in our conversations if you want to, and I’m equally at ease working with people of any or no faith. If it feels right, we can end our time together with an optional reflective session focused on your spiritual space and personal growth.

Training, qualifications & experience
- Level 4 Advanced Diploma Integrative Counselling
- Level 5 Children and Young People Counselling
- Trained in safeguarding and first aid
- With specialist training from SANDS in stillbirth and neonatal loss, I offer support to parents or family members who have experienced baby loss and those preparing for or going through pregnancy after loss
- Working therapeutically with Trauma and spirituality (Safe in faith)
- Youth work and ministry BA (Hons)
- Experience in youth work since 1994
- Have experience supporting adults and students through many challenges, including relationship difficulties, divorce, anxiety, grief and loss, Isolation and loneliness, abuse, trauma, baby and neonatal loss, pregnancy after traumatic birth, low self‑worth, depression and decision‑making
- Outside of my private practice, I volunteer with a charity counselling survivors of Domestic violence, Rape and sexual abuse
Member organisations
The Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC) is a Christian professional membership organisation for those involved in counselling/psychotherapy and linked professions, i.e. pastoral care, coaching and spiritual direction, in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Our stories are shaped by so many things - childhood experiences, trauma, spirituality, grief, loss, disappointment, and the beliefs we’ve carried about ourselves. These moments can leave deep marks, but they don’t have to define who you are today. You are wonderfully made, and you deserve the chance to reconnect with the parts of yourself that feel whole, grounded, and new.
I invite you to bring you, and I will bring my experience and expertise, with an element of Christian faith if that is something you connect with.
I work in a relaxed relational space. This ensures openness during our times together and a safe space to leave the work in the room until our next session together. The room is my own and is a safe place to explore:
- Past hurts and trauma
- Spirituality and religion (optional to discuss)
- Abuse, grief, loss, disappointment
- Childhood experiences
- Anxiety and depression
- Identity and self‑worth
Mostly through conversation, sometimes through creativity, stories, images and metaphors to match your needs - usually over a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
As a parent of teenagers and someone who has grown up in the local church youth work, I believe it is Important that you connect with the Therapist you are trusting your teenagers with. So I'd encourage an introductory meeting with parents to ensure we are the right match for the care of your child. This is a time for you to ask me questions about my practice and, if required, my faith.
