About me

Do you find yourself feeling anxious at the thought of facing the day? Perhaps you’re feeling low and struggling to find the motivation to do the things you feel you 'should'. Or maybe everything feels overwhelming right now, and it’s hard to see a way forward.

Whatever you’re going through, you don’t have to face it alone. With the right support, it’s possible to begin making sense of how you’re feeling, find steadier ground, and take things one step at a time towards feeling more like yourself again.

Life can feel hard at times, and in those moments, having the right support can make all the difference. I offer a space where you can talk openly, without judgement, and feel heard and understood. I’m pragmatic, down to earth, and open in my approach, and I bring this into our work together. While our sessions are led by you, I will gently support you in exploring what feels difficult or challenging, so that we can begin to find a way through it together.

I draw on a range of counselling approaches, adapting how I work to suit you and your needs. I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, anger, life transitions, identity questions, and trauma. Through my work with South Bucks Hospice and Juno Counselling, I also have particular experience with grief and bereavement, life-limiting illness (including cancer), addictive behaviours, disordered eating, and supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

The relationship between you and your counsellor is at the heart of the process, and it’s important that you feel it’s the right fit. I offer a free, no-obligation 30-minute phone call so you can get a sense of how I work and ask any questions you may have. You can contact me via my website or email me here.

Training, qualifications & experience

PGDip (Distinction) in Integrative Counselling and Coaching.

The models I am trained in are:

Person centred;
Psychodynamic;
Existential;
Transactional Analysis;
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT);
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) approaches.

I am a registered member of the BACP and am bound by their Code of Conduct and Ethical Framework.

I undertake regular Continuing Professional Development as part of my registration and my work is professionally supervised.

Counselling is my third career, one I was drawn to after several life-changing events in quick succession. Previously I was a Veterinary Surgeon and then a Senior Civil Servant. I like to think the threads linking the three careers are empathy for others, a desire to help make changes and a deep curiosity to understand.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
