About me

My name is Elfie and I am an integrative, person-centred counsellor. Our work together is led by your needs and tailored to what feels important for you. Our sessions will go at your pace, within a space which is non-judgemental, compassionate and confidential. My practice is informed by a range of modalities, including transactional analysis, nature-connection, mindfulness and creative therapies.

People come to counselling for many reasons: to explore difficult feelings, find peace, or to understand themselves more fully. You may be feeling a bit stuck or want to develop confidence and self-esteem, or perhaps you are having difficulty with relationships. I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is a crucial foundation: being truly listened to, accepted and witnessed can be a powerful and transformative experience.

Who I work with:

I welcome anyone who may be seeking support and work with a diverse range of clients, including young people, parents, older adults and those dealing with the flotsam and jetsam of everyday life and its challenges. My recent experience includes supporting clients dealing with depression, anxiety, PMDD and chronic pain, grief, neurodiversity, cancer diagnosis, domestic abuse, sexual assault, low self-esteem, caring responsibilities, palliative care and health-related trauma.

How I work:

I offer a warm, accepting and collaborative space where you can explore what matters most to you. I work out of a spacious garden studio at Potager gardens, near Falmouth, which has free parking, a wood-burning stove and a beautiful outdoor area. My approach is flexible and tailored to you. I offer face-to-face, telephone or online counselling, as well as outdoor walk and talk sessions.

Connection with the natural world is fundamental to my own well-being and can be part of our work together if you want it to be. Please get in touch if this is something you would like to explore.

If you feel I may be the right counsellor for you, I’d be glad to hear from you. Please reach out for a free introductory call of up to 30 minutes. In this session we usually discuss the kind of work you want to do, what our sessions might look like, where they will take place and other practicalities. It is an opportunity for us both to get to know each other: there is no obligation to have a set number of sessions, we can just see what feels right.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
