PGDip and MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling

About me

Hello, I’m Ed. I offer integrative and existential psychotherapy to adults, both online and in person, in Clapham and Farringdon. My practice is a space where you can take time to reflect, explore what matters, and face what’s difficult without pressure or judgement.

People often come to therapy with me because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, conflicted or unsure of who they are or what they want. You don’t need to have a clear goal. Together, we can make sense of your experience and find a way forward that feels honest and grounded.

I work relationally, meaning our therapeutic relationship becomes a live place to notice patterns, ask questions, and make contact with parts of yourself that may have been hidden or held back. I won’t give you advice or try to fix you. Instead, I’ll stay alongside you as we explore what has shaped you, what might be changing, and what possibilities are opening up now.

I have a particular interest in working with men. Therapy can sometimes feel unfamiliar or even off-limits to men who have grown up learning to keep things in and push through. I offer a space where it’s possible to put some of that down and get curious about what it’s actually like to be you. I also work closely with people in the performing arts and run a weekly men’s discussion group.

Sessions are fifty minutes and usually take place once a week. I offer sessions in person in London and also online. My fee is £85. I offer a limited number of concessionary spaces for people working in the arts.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy from Regent’s University London. Before that, I trained at the Minster Centre. My approach brings together existential, psychodynamic, and humanistic ideas, and I continue to deepen my practice through ongoing supervision and study.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, relationship struggles, trauma, low self-esteem, loss, identity, intimacy, creativity, purpose, and issues relating to masculinity and male identity. I have worked with clients from many backgrounds through ongoing work with Help Counselling and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I know how hard it can be to take the first step into therapy, especially if you’re used to handling things alone or have never really had space to reflect on yourself in this way. I aim to make our work together feel real, spacious and collaborative, not clinical or cold.

If any of this resonates, I’d be glad to hear from you. You’re welcome to contact me to arrange an initial conversation where we can see how it feels to talk together and what you might be looking for.
