About me

My name's Dom and I'm a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer both short- and long-term one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy to adults aged 21+ who live in the UK. I can offer sessions via telephone or online video. I currently have availability for new clients and I can generally offer daytime appointments on Mondays, Thursdays or Fridays.

  • Have you been struggling to cope with life's challenges?
  • Do you find yourself overthinking, overwhelmed or stressed out?
  • Are you anxious or depressed or don't know how you feel?
  • Do you feel like you don't know yourself anymore?
  • Need a place where you can get things off your chest?
  • Do you want to make changes in your life?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions, you might find counselling and psychotherapy useful but I know that searching for the right kind of support and reaching out to someone you don't know can be nerve-wracking. I hope my profile gives you enough information about me and the services I offer to help you decide whether to get in touch.

Counsellors and psychotherapists work in a variety of different ways. I take a 'person-centred' approach to my work and this means that I aim to offer my clients a space where they are:

  • met with warmth, empathy and compassion
  • truly listened to and not judged on what they say
  • offered a genuine human connection
  • supported while they explore their experiences
  • valued for their individuality

During our sessions together, we can explore whatever topics or issues you'd like to bring to therapy at your pace. In other words, I won't push you to talk about anything you don't want to. Also, I don't set 'homework' as many therapists do. Instead, I aim to work in a more flexible, relational way which is tailored to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have training and/or experience in the following areas (amongst others):

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • self-esteem
  • relationships
  • loneliness
  • bereavement and loss
  • LGBTQ+ issues
  • self-harm and suicide
  • spirituality and personal beliefs
  • trauma

My qualifications include a Master's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP-accredited) and a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling (recognised by several professional bodies). I have also received training in safeguarding for both young people and adults.

I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have an enhanced DBS check which enables me to work with vulnerable people and I hold full professional insurance.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
