About me

Maybe you’ve been holding things together for a long time, but something doesn’t feel quite right. You might not always be able to name it, but it’s there: the heaviness, the unease, the sense that something is missing.

People often come to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed or burnt out, struggling with anxiety or low mood, or feeling disconnected from themselves or from others. You might be the one who appears to cope, while privately finding things harder than you let on.

I’m a qualified psychotherapist offering a warm, collaborative space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and begin to move towards something different. There’s no need to perform in therapy, and no pressure to have the “right” words.

My work is grounded in humanistic and gestalt traditions, which means I work relationally and with attention to the present moment. Alongside talking things through, we might also notice what’s happening in your emotions, your body, and the patterns that show up in your relationships. Often, the strategies we developed to survive earlier experiences can later leave us feeling restricted, disconnected or stuck. Therapy can help you understand those patterns with compassion and curiosity, and create space for more freedom and choice.

I work with people of all genders, and I have a particular interest in supporting men who may be new to therapy or unsure whether it’s for them, and who are looking for a down-to-earth, non-judgemental place to talk.

If you’d like to explore working together, you’re welcome to get in touch. I offer a free 20-minute call so we can talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and see whether I might be the right fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy and Counselling at Homa Psychotherapy Training, London (4 years)
  • Diploma in Professional Development and Postgraduate Certificate in Gestalt Therapy at the Gestalt Centre London and London Metropolitan University, London (2 years)

During my six years of psychotherapy training, I had weekly therapy myself – and I continue to do so. For me, this wasn’t just part of the course requirements – it was, and still is, a vital part of being an ethical and self-aware therapist.

I also have a supervisor with whom I meet fortnightly (at least) to discuss my client work. And I engage in continuous professional learning and development to ensure I continue to grow and develop as a safe pair of hands for my clients.

As part of my training, I worked as a voluntary therapist at a hospice in Kent, supporting people facing grief, bereavement, serious illness and anticipatory loss – among many other things. This work has deepened my understanding of how people navigate profound change, uncertainty and vulnerability, and the importance of having a compassionate space to process what they are going through.

I will shortly be working with West Kent Mind as I am deeply committed to social justice, and believe therapy should be accessible to anyone who needs it, whatever their financial or social circumstances.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in journalism and a European Parkinson's charity. This background continues to inform my work, particularly my awareness of how social context, power, identity and culture can shape people’s inner worlds.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
